Official NHL thread 2007-2008

OOhh Wee! Sens clinch a playoff spot with a loss........AND a Carolina loss, haha. Whatever, I'll take it anyway I can get it, 11th straight season with a playoff berth.

Didn't think too many American's liked hockey. Don't understand why too. You guys love baseball so much and think hockey is boring?? Hockey should be like the second favourite sport in America next to football. It's got bare knuckle boxing for fucks sake, lol, something that is illegal anywhere else. Anyway, I'm an Ottawa Senator's fan (I'm from Ottawa) and we just KILLED the Leafs (our arch rivals) 8-2...it was beautiful. I see there a lot of Tampa Bay fans here. They're alright, the need to tighten up their D and goaltending. I would love to have Lacalvier on my line with Spezza or Heatley, that'd be unstoppable. Anyway, good to see some American's supporting hockey.

in my opinion
the only relevant sports are football, NBA (which i dont like) and college football and basketball (which i only like tourney time)

so basically
football is the only sport i enjoy watching

Then why, may I ask, are you checking out a hockey thread?

wow...never thought i'd be rooting for the Bolts to lose

When you see what Steve Stamkos can do , you will be happy they finished last . It's sad in a way to see a stanley cup winner just 4 years ago finish last this year but it will be well worth it once Stamkos is part of the Lightning . :nanner:

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Tampa Bay Lightning center Vincent Lecavalier will have surgery to repair damage to his right shoulder.

Lecavalier was hurt in Thursday's game at Washington. His shoulder was dislocated when he fell awkwardly after a hit by Washington's Matt Cooke.

Tests on Friday showed Lecavalier damaged the labrum of the right shoulder. A date for surgery and the establishment of a rehab schedule should come in seven to 10 days when inflammation subsides.

Recovery time is expected to be 12 to 15 weeks, which means Lecavalier could be ready for the start of training camp next season.

"While I'm disappointed to be facing surgery at this time, I'm looking forward to working hard during the summer to be ready for training camp in September," Lecavalier said in a statement.

*uncontrollable sobs*

Man Lecavalier will be fine. Start worrying about those Sens, I think they're gonna have to face the Washington Caps. They're the hottest team in the East right now. My prediction is that the Caps and Sharks meet in the finals.

bc i hear it on espn
and i used to like hocket
before the strike that is

baseball, football and basketball are all way too slolwy paced. hockey is fast paced and always full of action. i watched many games this year where there were no breaks (whistles, penalties, etc.) for about 10:00 minutes which means the players were going all out non stop. you'll never see that kind of action in the MLB, NFL, or NBA.

i'd like to see a San Jose/Montreal Cup final. that would be awesome

And yet hockey, without all the awful clutching and grabbing interference they got rid of after the lockout, has, IMO, improved the game by a lot. Yes the lockout (unless you are going way back to 1992 when it was a strike) was a bad time for the NHL, but how can the likes of Ovie not turn anyone on to the game? :) I can't wait to see how excited he gets in the playoffs! He might actually propel himself through the glass after scoring

Shame the Blackhawks didn't quite get there this year but that's another exciting young team in an exciting young league and their time will come :glugglug:

At the start of the season I had Sharks/Sens but Ottawa have the third(?) worst record since the New Year and Murray has a lot to answer for there I think. I do believe though that whoever comes out of the West will win the cup. I just think those teams are too tough this year. :2 cents:

As for Montreal, they aren't going anywhere. They're gonna get pushed around too much to make it deep in the playoffs. You gotta be able to hit hard and take hard hits to make it anywhere and they're just too much of a finesse team.

Nanananana, Montreal will be great, I'm sure, we will maybe finish 1st if the Pens lose and we will play versus Boston in the playoff, a team that we defeated 11 consecutive game. It's not only about "hit hard", the goalie is the key for success in the playoff and also we do have players that can "hit hard". Anyways, it's hard to predict what will happen in the playoff, I'll go with Montreal/San Jose for the cup.

Thank god Philly won, cus the Sens would get embarrassed by Washington if they met first round. Seriously, they are unstopable right now, winning 10 of their last 11. They're the team to beat in the East.

Washington is strong, but they won't win the Cup. they can only ride Ovechkin's success for so long until he tires out. they don't have enough of a steady goal scoring line to keep the momentum up if Alex gets hurt.

Pushed around ? By who, the Bruins... Chara got a cold after each game he played against the habs this season and i don't even know another quality defenseman in Boston besides him !! :D

Ya I wrote that before they were matched up for the playoffs. They should take care of Boston quite easily, but they aren't winning the conference.
