Official NHL thread 2007-2008

He still has one year left to his contract . But you can bet that Jay Feaster will try to sign him to a very long contract extension after this season . If he doesn't , the team will go to hell very fast .

hope he does,or the Montreal Canadiens will offer him a great deal,
maybe he wants to come back home after all these years in Tampa...

but i think he will stay in tampa till the end of his career...you guys need him to keep this team alive. good luck!!

go habs go

i would hope so. he and Marty St. Louis need to have long careers and retire as Lightning players :)

Nikki Benz: Simply the best #1!!
and the Islanders are probably out of the playoffs after losing to the Lightning :(

all announcers seem to talk about is Ovechkin and Crosby's unbelievable talent. Vinnie still ain't no pushover :nanner:

Oveshkin and Crosby are incredible players, but i would take Vinnie in my team before those two,hes more of a complete player

Too bad he had that slump because he would have had 50 goals . Still I'm pretty sure he will finish strong and get at least 40 + goals .

He is a more complete player . Crosby is not very tough and likes to whine a bit to much and Ovechkin is not a very good defensive player .

Where would you ever get the idea that Alex Ovechkin is injury prone or that he can't play defense? He may very well be the best and most complete player to ever put on a pair of skates. He is huge, strong, he loves to hit. he has the quickest release I have ever seen. I was at last night's game against Calgary where he scored the GWG with 1:54 remaining in regulation. He had 2 goals last night, giving him 56 goals; most goals, most assists, most power play goals, most GWGs, most 4 on 4 goals. He won't back down from anyone. He skates all out every shift. He wants to win more than any player I have ever seen. He is just as happy when his teammates score as when he does. Against Montreal, he broke his nose, got stitches, and still scored 4 goals and had an assist in the win. The only reason that Ovechkin doesnt skate on the PK is because he does need to be off the ice at some point. He often double shifts, including staying on the ice for the entire power play. THAT IS A HOCKEY PLAYER.

Lecavalier, Ovechkin and Crosby are all good players but if I had to choose only one player, I would go with Crosby because I think he is the more complete player and who knows what will happen in the future, Crosby and Ovechkin are still young. Crosby is a complete player, Ovechkin spectacular and Lecavalier in overall is good, strong and also Quebecer! Anyways, I would take them anytime in my team but if I had the choice, Crosby will be my choice.

Ovechkin is a great player but the truth is he is a very average defensive player . I'm not saying he doesn't make a good defensive play once in a while but that does not make him a good defensive player at all . And also that doesn't make a bad defensive player , so all in all that's why I think he is average .

Jay Feaster is a hockey moron. Any idiot can see what Tampa have needed for 3 years now is a good goaltender. Feaster doesn't though.

i love Mike Smith and i don't care who knows it (not in the gay sense)

although if he keeps playing like he did tonight ... ;)

Pronger got ONLY 8games suspension,
he should have got playoffs too,and at least 10 games next year,
but hes a superstar so...

He tried to get a good goaltender , it's not his fault Marc Denis turned out to be such a disapointment . Also you have to understand he had to work very limited budget imposed on him by the team's previous owner .

Mike Smith really looks like he will be a great goalie in Tampa for many years :) . Jay Feaster did really good with the Richards trade .

i really feel confident in Tampa for the forseeable future. their defense has improved and will continue to thanks to the addition of Picard and Dan Boyle returning, they still have Lecavalier and St. Louis and their other lines are now shipping in with goals and now with Karri Ramo and Mike Smith in net, they could prove to be a 100 point team in the near future
