Official NHL thread 2007-2008

The Pens will roll right through the flyers like they did to everyone else. Philly is just on a lucky run and that's all it is so don't get disillusioned with their sucess. It's just going to be a LETDOWN IN THE END. philly has no talent at all. And as far as their regular season wins go, Ottawa and new york have winning regular season wins against Pittsburgh also and how did that end up. Even your coach said he was happy he wasn't playing the Penguins.

:1orglaugh No talent huh? You're worse than most bandwagon Penguins fans. I guess having six 20 goal scorers with Briere,Richards,Carter,Knuble,Hartnell, and Lupul just happens by accident. It's probably luck that Danny Briere is leading the league in playoff goals too. He only lead the Sabres in points the last 2 times in the playoffs. I also suppose there was no talent involved in getting past the best player in the league and Washington. Need I even mention the fact that Simon Gagne hasn't even been in the lineup since February? Once again :1orglaugh

Before I forget. Pittsburgh has NEVER beaten Philadelphia in a 7 game series.

1988-89 - Lost in the division finals 4 games to 3

1996-97 - Lost in the conference quarterfinals 4 games to 1

1999 -00 - Lost in conference seminfinals 4 games to 2

Living in the past, just like your flyers. You seem to forget the lineup that the pens put on the ice this year. Crosby, Malkin, Hossa, Sykora, Roberts, Fleury,
Malone, Gonchar, Gill, Dupuis, etc: You're coach was right. I would'nt want to face the Pens either. And I'm not a bandwagon Pens fan. I have been a diehard pens fan since 1984. And you want to talk about goal scorers, We won't even discuss the stats of the pens.

You're actually going to bring up old as dirt Gary Roberts and Hall Gill? You think those two actually make a big difference? Oh my god! We shouldn't talk about Pittsburgh's stats because they still don't have as much as depth as Philadelphia. I'd like for you to point to exactly when and where Stevens said he was happy to not face Pittsburgh. If you're going to say it I'm going to call you on it.

I can't wait to see some of the artful diving Captain Cupcake from Pittsburgh does next round. The fans should all bring score cards

Desperate words from a desperate fan. you're begining to bore me now. I'm not going through the archives to find out who said what, when. I'm not totally convinced the flyers will even make the next round. so we will see what unfolds until then. I'm sure we'll have some to talk about after tommorrow.

I just discovered why Sean Avery is so weird. He was raised next to a nuclear reactor in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. Must have been radiation leakage.

:D

Historically, how have teams fared when they have been down 3-1 in a series? I'm not a hardcore NHL fan, but I like watching the game, and I'm just curious about the Sharks' chance of pulling it off.

I knew you wouldn't be able to tell me when Stevens said he was happy they weren't playing Pittsburgh. Do you know how i know? It's because he never said it to begin with. If you're going to debate with me atleast get your shit straight.

Alright, Stevens said the day after the flyers got in to the playoffs. You know the day, when the Pens so-called tank of the conference title. It was on fox sports Pittsburgh in the penguins post game show. It was also on sportsbeat on the radio on 105.9 the X. Stevens talked to Stan Savaran after the pens game was over. He said the Flyers lucked out by not having to play the pens in the first round but now you may LUCK OUT and get to play them anyway.

Yeah, I'm not sure, but it doesn't happen very often. But who cares, watch hockey!:):wave2:

only twice in NHL history has a team come back from a 3-0 defecit to win a series. when it's 3-1, i think it was something like 10 times. either way, the odds are not good

Next year, Montreal will be better in the playoffs. We still had a incredible season this year and nobody ever thought we would finished in 1st place and make the playoffs. Oh, and by the way, I can't believe how lucky the Flyers were.

I was sad to see the Flyers beat the Habs, it was a good game with fast paced end to end action, with both teams playing there hardest (thats of course after Price lety in three un answered goals in the second)

Now that there is no Canadain team ledt in the NHL Play Offs, I am rooting for a Western Conference team to win the Stanley Cup, I just hope it aint Detroit, Oh how I despise Detoit

i don't think luck had anything to do with it. the Flyers outplayed the Habs through and through. Umberger was on fire, Biron was stellar and the Canadiens' power play did something it didn't do all regular season: fail. they had many opportunities to win the games, but they just couldn't muster the ability.

I gotta hand it to you , they did have an incredible season given the fact that almost everybody had them missing the playoffs at the begening of the year . I think the big mistake Gainey made was to let Cristobal Huet go . Carey price wasn't ready to be the #1 guy in the playoffs obviously . I'm pretty sure he will become one o the best in the league in the future .
