Official NHL thread 2007-2008

Ahhh fuck the Pens. They'll prob make it outta the East if they don't face Philly. But if they do, ohh weeee, what a conference finals that would be! But either way, they're folding to whoever they face in the finals. Detriot or Dallas will kill them.

I'd love to be in Pennsylvania for that one.

Philly fans are gonna be louder and crazier guarenteed.

They (Flyers fans) have always been more dedicated over the years. There were many years when only several thousand fans would fill Melon Arena, if my memory serves me. I think everybody and their mom loved Mario, and he started filling seats again. Sid is probably having some effect there now too. Sid will never be any Mario, though. :nono:

Sid won't be a Mario, but he has some potential. I just hate that everyone's all over their dick like this. Also, I'm a Sens fan, haha.

Nikkala made me do it!
Sean Avery done for the playoffs with a lacerated spleen ... YIKES!

Now he gets to go home and let Elisha sit on his face for the next 2 months. :1orglaugh

Actually he's done with her. He's got a new girl now. Can't remeber her name but I know she's a fashion designer and not nearly as good looking as Elisha.

Annnnyway, the Pens might have sold out their arena (and Sidney Crosby might have sold his soul), but we'll see who has the biggest heart when it comes to the finals. I mean the Stanley Cup finals, not the conference. Because the Pens could very well possibly beat the Flyers, but there's no way they'll beat Detroit or Dallas. Those big D's will take Sid and Malkin's anal virginity the first 10 minutes they step on the ice with them.

It's annoying. People want to talk like Pittsburgh is this great hockey dynasty and is unbeatable the moment they step on the ice. They're not. They've had it fairly easy these first two rounds with a dysfunctional and injured Senators team and let's be honest the Rangers don't put the fear of god into an opponent. Pittsburgh even tried their best to avoid (dodge) a first round matchup with Philly.

The Flyers on the other hand haven't ducked or dodged any challenge this post season. They took Alex Ovechkin and a hungry Washington team head on and came out ontop in 7 games. They're now in the process of dispatching the number one seeded Canadiens in possibly 5 games. The Flyers have proven to have arguably the best goalie in the playoffs so far and their offensive depth is outstanding with six 20 goal scorers. Who else even comes close to that? The special teams aren't too bad either. Philly obviously knows how to ratchet up the physical play too. If I was a Penguins fan I wouldn't be so comfortable.

If you think for even a second that Captain Cupcake and Pittsburgh will coast through the eastern conference finals then you're sadly mistaken.

Lol, well fucking said.

Thank you for mentioning that the Sens were banged up to shit when facing the Pens.

I thought for sure that the Caps would take the East since they had such a great run at the end of the season but Federov had something to say about that (missing that pass from Ovechkin at the end of the 3rd period game 7).

But if the Pens face Philly, they're doneski.

P.S. Ha, fucking, HA, to the Habs and their arrogant Quebecer fans...

It's one thing for the flyers to beat the Montreal Canadiens , who are in my opinion not that good of a team , but to say that Philly would beat the powerhouse that is the Pitsburgh Penguins ? I think that's pretty far fetched .

Montreal must have done something right during the regular season to earn the top seed in the eastern conference. Are you saying they've somehow forgotten how to play hockey between then and now?

Once again Pittsburgh is NOT a "powerhouse" They're really no different than the Sabres team from 2007. Sure they're flashy and fun to watch but once they get locked into a physically demanding series they'll run into a certain degree of trouble.

The Flyers have been in playoff mode since their 10 game losing streak late in the season. With their scoring depth, special teams, and goaltending I like their chances against anyone. Nobody gave them much a chance going into their first two playoff rounds and look how that's turned out.

They had a good season but the reason they finished first is largely because of the very very poor play of the Boston bruins against them and the Ottawa Senators' complete melt down after the all-star break . Imagine if Boston had played like they did in the playoffs vs Montreal , the regular season series between the 2 teams would have ended 4-4 instead of 8-0 for Montreal . So that means 8 less points for the Habs . So what I'm saying is that The canadiens have a good team but not as good as their 1st place finish indicated . There are better teams in the east .

Yeah, I'm sure the Penguins gave up the conference title just so they could play the senators. Philly should be happy they didn't play the Pens in the first round or the flyers would be sitting home right now. So don't talk shit just because your bum ass teams are sitting home watching instead of playing.

Hey,you wanted somebody to say something about Pittsburgh. Your wish has been granted. That's exactly what Pittsburgh did. Why play a relatively healthy Flyers team that won 7 of 9 to make the playoffs? The Senators were much a easier first round draw due to injuries and dysfunction. It happened to work for Pittsburgh. They tanked their last game against Philly which allowed the Flyers to move into the 6th seed. Pittsburgh conveniently got a favorable matchup against the Senators. The Flyers aren't afraid of the "mighty" Penguins. They proved that by winning 5 out of 8 in the regular season. By the way I'm not talking shit because my "bum ass team" is sitting home. My team is one game away from eliminating Montreal.

If you're a Flyers fan then why did you defend the Canadiens when I said they weren't that good of a team ?
