that rule should be done away with. i can think of plenty of instances where goalies were the true leaders of the team and held the team together in difficult games and situations.
case in point, when Luongo stopped 74 shots in the '06-'07 quadruple overtime playoff game against Dallas. that is captain's work.

I had no idea. I grew up playing with goalies that were C's when I was younger. Ironically, on a lot of teams, it's the goalie that is the most crucial (and a lot of times the best) players on the team.

Oh, I had no idea that this was a rule. IMO its a fucking stupid rule. Why should goalies not be alowed to be captain? it makes no sence

Don't forget all the free agents available this year , the new owners said they will be very active on that front come july 1st . As for Prospal , tsn reported last night that the Lightning are very close to signing him . So Tampa is going to have a much better team next year for sure .
