The Detroit Lions will have new place kicker this week, as Alex Henery was released outright. Henery missed three field goals in Sunday's 17-14 loss to Buffalo, including a 50-yard attempt late in the fourth quarter that would have given the Lions the lead. The miss gave the Bills a short field in the closing seconds and led to Dan Carpenter's winning 58-yard kick with four seconds to play. Lions coach Jim Caldwell said "the team will likely try to find a kicker with experience."

Just signed today: These three will fill the open spot on the roster.

I wonder if somewhere out there Jason Hanson is laughing his ass off about now.

Seahawks could of made this worst in the scoring margin if not for all the of the penalties in the 1st half. Harvin had three TD's called backed.

Yeah that was frustrating. They led the league in penalties last year but still won it all.

Russel Wilson's critical 3rd down conversion late in the 4th qtr when the Redskins had that play blow'd up. This guy is magic.

Why some 49ers fans are giving them a bad name. Man beat up in Levi Stadium for tapping a guy on the shoulder to tell him a bathroom stall was open.

From watching the game last night I came away with some observations.

1. Luck had some very Favreian moments in the game where he played well, but was also gunslinging a bit where he was lucky not to get intercepted a couple of times. Like the young Favre at his prime he seems good enough to get away with it most of the time, but it would also have me worried a bit.

2. Houston really needs somebody better than Fitzpatrick. A better secondary wouldn't hurt them either.

3. J.J. Watt is a freaking monster. I hope Houston someday gets better just so his career isn't wasted playing for them.

If JJ stays healthy for 5+ years, he will to the HOF. Super Bowl rings are a dime doz. 25+ players, coaches, 2nd/third stringers, team chaplains, owners get them every year. Got JJ in a class of LT,
Dick Butkas, Sam Huff. His career will not be wasted!

The Texans defense mainly the DB on TY Hilton loss the game in the first quarter giving up 24 points. After that the Colts only scored 9.

But Andre Johnson fumble in the 4th pretty much was the final mistake that gave the Colts the win. IMO Luck was not lucky. He exploited a weak DB in the 1st.

I would put JJ comparison with other DL like Mean Joe Green, Chuck Foreman, Joe Klecko and Richard Dent with Huff instead of the two LBs of LT and Butkus.

Chuck Foreman was an RB with Vikes. Same time Alan Page (rare MVP). Singeltary, Curtis, Bergey, Hamberger and Blair were outstanding

Overall I'd say that's true, but he had enough lucky non-interceptions to legitimately worry about it. Maybe it was just a factor of where the game was at that point, and being so far ahead gave more leeway for being aggressive because the risk was lower.

Thx for the correction and Page is the one I should of mention.

That is great analysis with an early lead.

JJ almost picked another off also.

How 'bout them Cowboys?!!! Woo Hoo! Administered the Seahawks a Football clinic.
The Dallas Cowboys ... the Best team in the NFL now. :yesyes: :D

The game of the week for me was the matchup between the Panthers and the Bengals which came down to an easy missed filed goal to end a potential (50 or so -1) Super Bowl matchup in a 37 to 37 tie. Wow. I thought these teams thrived on defense rather than guts and making big plays to even up. I was impressed on both ends.

I wonder how many people thought at the beginning of the season that Arizona would be higher in the standing than Seattle or San Francisco at this point.
