NFL '25 Season Thread

Wow .. that is pretty rare; an in-season firing of a coordinator.

Raiders fired OC Chip Kelly.

Kelly’s time with the Raiders lasted just 11 games, yet this move still feels past due. The offense averaged 4.6 yards per play, 6.67 yards per pass play and 3.5 yards per carry. The Raiders’ front office signed Kelly to a contract that paid him $6 million per year, back in February, making him the NFL’s highest-paid offensive coordinator. His results were extremely disappointing. Seeing him return to the college ranks would be unsurprising.

Ohhhh! I stand corrected! I don't follow the Las Vegas Raiders .. but I do follow the G-Men. This was overdue!!

Giants fired DC Shane Bowen.

The dismissal of Bowen has felt like a foregone conclusion for weeks, especially after losses to the Broncos and Bears in which they held double-digit leads with less than six minutes left. The Giants blew their fifth 10-point, fourth quarter lead of the season in Week 12’s loss to the Lions to tie an NFL record. The blown leads compounded with a defense that ranks 30th in both yards and points allowed simply became too much for a Giants team that is finishing out eight’s eighth losing season of the last nine years. Interim head coach Mike Kafka had the Giants in position to pull off an upset road win over the Lions but were outscored 17-0 after grabbing a 27-17 lead. Kafka has been a hot name in coaching circles over the last few offseasons, and is auditioning to become the next coach of the Giants over the final six weeks of the season, and needs all the help he can get from the staff in place. Kafka is expected to name an interim defensive coordinator in the near future.

If Brees and Fitzgerald aren't first ballot I don't know who is. Hope Kuechly gets in this year and would be great to see Smitty get inducted but I think he is a long shot. I do not think Eli or Rivers deserve to get in but they both will, Eli first I suspect. Frank Gore and Witten are Hall of Very Good and longevity type guys.

The Panthers defeated the Rams on a short week after playing like penises Monday night against San Francisco. This team is an enigma. It is so cool to still be "in the hunt" in December. It's been a while.

Looks like IND QB1 Daniel Jones tore his Achilles, and is OUT for the rest of the year. The backup, Anthony Richardson, was ruled OUT for the year previously. As Devin McCourty preached during the SNF halftime show, "Indy is DONE.."

Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) left Indianapolis’ Week 14 game against the Jaguars and will not return.

He immediately reached for the Achilles on the dropback near the end of the first quarter, it was non-contact. Jones slammed his helmet on the turf multiple times before gingerly limping off with trainers and heading to the blue tent. He then followed them to the locker room. Jones had been 5-of-7 for 60 yards and an interception in the early going, but that is not the main concern for the Colts now. Riley Leonard took over at quarterback.

Going to be an expensive injury for him too - he was set to be a free agent after this season. Deshaun Watson tore his Achilles on October 20th last year and he has missed the entire season to this point.

With Atlanta's defeat of Tampa Bay, Carolina is in sole possession of first place in the NFC South for the first time since 2017.

Daniel Jones experienced a slight fractured femur in the week 9 loss against Steelers. But he managed to play on in the win against the Falcons, a bye week, the Chiefs,Texans and Jaguars. Those last three games were losses.

The Colts have a game in Seattle against the Seahawks (not a good place for visiting teams because of the crowd noise) - a game in Indy against the 49ers. Then end the season with home and away games against the Texans and Jaguars.

So yes I agree. I'd say that they are done. To quote the ex-head coach Jim Mora concerning the playoffs.

Carolina played like a bunch of penises. That game was an abortion.

Torn ACL for Patrick Mahomes, looking like the same for Micah Parsons.

The Chicago Bears have won the NFC North for the first time since 2018.

The Denver Broncos have won the AFC West for the first time since 2015.
