NFL '25 Season Thread

Carolina and Green Bay have been eliminated. Quite a collapse for Green Bay. They were a popular Super Bowl pick at one point in the season.

Carolina made a lot of progress this year and I think they are moving in the right direction.

I was .. surfin' on Saturday, but had NFL.com open in a tab. When CAR came back, I watched a little more than the 4th quarter. Some absolute dimes, to Coker - fade route. And, to Parkinson, near the right pylon.

IMHO - I think the QB gets better if CAR drafts either a TE, or an offensive tackle this Spring. Stacked at RB, and I think have used 1st rounders on WRs two years in a row.

Mike Tomlin steps down as Steelers head coach. Did not have that on my bingo card.

John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin in the same offseason. Wow.

The divisional round of the playoffs is now set:

Buffalo vs Denver
Houston vs New England

San Francisco vs Seattle
Los Angeles Rams vs Chicago

Adam Thielen is retiring.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore has decided to stay in school and not enter this year's Draft. I guess he did not want to be drafted by the Jets.

Harbaugh being available was a surprise. I was hoping for Stefansky. Let's hope Todd Monken does as good a job with Dart as he did with L-Jax.

Giants signed former Ravens HC John Harbaugh to a five-year contract to be their next head coach.

And... it’s done. After numerous delays amidst contract minutiae, the two sides have agreed on a five-year contract to make Harbaugh the team’s next head coach. The former Ravens head coach was one of the longest tenured head coaches in the league before being fired last week, quickly landing on his feet with one of the more desirable head coaching vacancies in the league. He’ll be tasked with turning around a franchise that has had little success in the post-Eli era.

Congratulations/Best wishes/hope it works out depending on one's opinion of the hire.

Denver and Seattle advance. Buffalo and San Francisco have been eliminated.

Denver's celebration was short-lived as it was announced after the game and quarterback Bo Nix has a broken bone in his ankle which will require surgery and end his season.

The Falcons are hiring 2x Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski to be their head coach.

The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams have advanced after yesterday's games.

Conference championship matchups are set:

New England Patriots at Denver Broncos
Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks

The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott.

It would be great if he would come back to Carolina as defensive coordinator but he should have a new HC gig before too long.

Yeah .. I guessed McDermott might be gone, after BAL fired Harbaugh.

BUF badly needs a WR that scares the other team's defense. Not much out there for 2026 FAs.. If I was them, I'd use whatever draft capital it takes, and move up to grab Ohio State WR C. Tate.

Dolphins are hiring Jeff Hafley to be their next head coach.

Titans are hiring Robert Saleh to be their next head coach.

Ravens are hiring former Los Angles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter to be their head coach.

It appears as though Pittsburgh will be hiring Mike McCarthy as their next head coach. A McCarthy & Aaron Rodgers reunion in Pittsburgh?

As I expected, SEA is favored. Spread already moved a full point!

BUF stayed-in house for their next Head Coach:

Bills hired offensive coordinator Joe Brady as the team’s head coach.

While it’s hard to separate Brady’s play calling and offensive scheming from the all-world quarterbacking of Josh Allen, Brady’s Buffalo offenses have been productive. The Bills have been top-six in points scored and top-ten in total yards in all three of Brady’s seasons at the helm of the offense. Brady, 36, served as OC for the Panthers before coming to Buffalo in 2023. The Bills over the past three years lead the NFL in EPA per play and rank second in offensive success rate, trailing only Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers. Brady, at worst, will bring continuity to the team after they fired longtime head coach Sean McDermott following a Divisional Round loss to the Broncos.

So .. two things: 1) will need a top-tier Defensive Coordinator; and 2) will need to convince the newly-appointed President of Football Operations (ahem) Bill Beane to spend draft capital, and move-up in the first round, and take Ohio State WR C. Tate.

It is being reported that Bill Belichick, head coach of the Patriots dynasty, will not be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year, his first year of eligibility.

  • 6x Super Bowl champion (NFL record)
  • 9x Conference champion (NFL record)
  • 17x Division champion (NFL record)
  • 31 playoff wins (NFL record)
  • 19 playoff appearances (NFL record)
  • 302 wins (3rd all time)
  • 3x Coach of the Year
  • 2000s All-Decade Team
  • 2010s All-Decade Team
  • NFL 100 Anniversary All-Time Team

Unbelievable.

It is being reported that Bill Belichick, head coach of the Patriots dynasty, will not be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year, his first year of eligibility.

Yeah .. I saw that all over the place. Ex-Indy GM Bill Polain reportedly "lead a charge" to prevent Belichick from being a 1st-ballot enshrinee. Cuz of Spygate and Deflategate.

Todd Monken to CLE as the new Head Coach. Looks like Harbaugh "went down with the ship" for nothing, in BAL.. Will be interesting to see who Harbaugh goes with as the OC in New York.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Browns will hire former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as the team’s head coach.

Monken, after coaching one of the NFL’s most efficient offenses over the past three seasons, will take over as Cleveland’s head coach after the team had several coaching candidates withdraw their name from consideration in recent days. Monken, 59, was the Browns offensive coordinator back in 2019, when the team ranked 22nd in most yards and points. He’s also served as OC for the Bucs. “By choosing Monken,” Russini said, “the Browns select a respected offensive mind with experience.” It’s not known whether Monken will retain Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who was a candidate for the top job.
