If the mouths at the sports stations are right, Indy might be facing what Denver faced after Elway's retirement if for whatever reason, Manning left the team.

I'm really glad to see CP7 (Painter) play at least a decent half of football. After those first two drives, he was 9-15 for 140 yards and 2 TDs. He's a mediocre QB, but I like having him on the roster because he's a former Boilermaker.

I don't think the Colts would have brought in Collins if The Sheriff was going to be able to start the first two games. I expect him to miss those games and then be ready to go. There's no reason to hurry back if he's not healthy. It's definitely not worth the risk to chase Favre's streak. Get to 100% and then start winning football games.

And when #18 retires, the Colts are instantly a below average team. Nobody means more to their team than Peyton does. Fact.

I know it is just preseason, but is anyone else impressed by what Detroit has been doing?
To me they look to be the most improved team so far.

The Lion and the Broncos are my two sleeper teams this season.

Some say the Lions are good enough to make it to the Super Bowl. I don't know if I would go that far, just need to see it for myself. But they certainly look good enough to make it to the playoffs.

As for the Broncos, they look much better than a 4 win team they were last year. Kyle Orton is a stud. He may not be in the Brady/Manning/Bress/Rogers/Rives class, but he's certainly in the second tier class. Also, Elvis Dumervil and Von Miller are unblockable. The Broncos could have one of the best pass-rushing defenses in the NFL.

I honestly think Detriot will challenge Chicago for the 2nd spot in the NFC North this season (behind Green Bay). I can see them winning about 9 games and maybe being able to get a wild card spot.

The only team in that division I don't see doing very good would be Minnesota. Glancing at their schedule, I only see them winning about 5 games.

I don't think Detroit is ready for the Super Bowl either. But I think they can challenge for a wild card spot. The problem is who would be left out? There should be a wild card from the South, one of the non-division winners from New Orleans, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay. And probably one from the East, Philadelphia, New York, and maybe Dallas if they can get their talent to play as a team.

I like Denver to improve, but I don't think normally they could challenge for the division. But the AFC West doesn't have a dominate team right now, so they could make it.

And before all the Charger fans yell at me, I am sorry, but as long as Norv Turner is your coach, you are not going to be a dominate team.

Detroit is going to have a top 10 offense if Stafford stays healthy. He was near perfect against the Pats yesterday.

If I was asked to realistically predict right now which teams would make the NFC playoffs, my picture would look like this:

NFC North: Green Bay
NFC South: New Orleans
NFC East: Philadelphia
NFC West: Arizona

Wild Card 1: Atlanta
Wild Card 2: Washington (call me a homer but whatever)

How about you?

NFC North - Chicago
NFC South - Atlanta
NFC East - Philadelphia
NFC West - St Louis

Wild Card 1 - Tampa Bay
Wild Card 2 - New Orleans

AFC North - Baltimore
AFC South - Houston
AFC East - New England
AFC West - San Diego

Wild Card 1 - New York
Wild Card 2 - Indianapolis

^The NFC South is going to be a great division no doubt, but 3 teams making it? I just don't think that Tampa Bay is going to live up to the hype.

And no Green Bay?

I know that Philadelphia has created a "dream team", but I think they may crack with all the pressure. The only reason they won't miss out altogether is Andy Reid. But I do like what the Giants have done. Very quietly they have made a lot of improvements.
But I would like to see both Washington and Detroit in, just to see some new teams in the postseason.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of a "dream team" in football. That may have worked in the NBA and MLB, but I can't see it working in the NFL. I hope you're right about everything here, but I still have a feeling that Philly will win around 11 games and win the division.

Seeing Washington and Detroit in would be great. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think Chicago is a very interesting team to watch.

I thought about trading the Giants for the Bucs. Either or I guess. And as for GB, Chicago is going to run that division. The rest of them will beat each other up.

Pucker Up Butter Cup.
The Packers look ready for the season with a win last night, Rodgers looked sharp, I'm impressed overall! Go Pack!:)

my playoff picks as it looks now...before injuries will impacat someones season..

NFC West: St. Louis
East: Philadelphia
North: Green Bay
South: Atlanta

wildcards: Dallas and New Orleans

AFC West: San Diego
East: New England
North: Baltimore
South: my shocker pick..Houston

wildcards: Indianapolis and NYJ

I can see KC going from 10 wins to mabye 4 this seaons....they played a last place schedule last season cause they did finish last the year before and took advantage of the weaklings, i dont see enough from them to think they can repeat on a first place schedule this time, esp. with the toughest games on the road. I think we will see more 10 win teams in the NFC miss the playoffs this season

Detroit is a perennial preseason powerhouse. They transform into the Cleveland Broncos once the season begins. The game against the New England Expatriates is a little deceiving, since half the Pats defense didn't even make the trip, plus Brady appeared to not give a sh*t. But the Lions are improved--esp. on O-line and D. But a post-season appearance is a couple of seasons away IMO. Prediction? 8-8.

Pre season is overrated, the Colts for example are 4-27 in the last 8 pre seasons, and theyve won a super bowl and made it to a second recently in those 8 years. The teams who are already established at most positions, def. the most important ones, like the colts dont care much for it, the teams who need as much help as they can get or need to establish an identity like the Lions take it more seriously and thus win more games there as a result.

What i will say about the lions is that with big Suh on that D-line they are scary enough on defense, and if Nick Fairleigh doesnt take plays off in the NFL as he did in college he will be a beast with Ndamikang Suh helping him on the other side. O-line is going to be their biggest question by far
