English Premiership Thread 2010/11

Sorry but I think there is no way Liverpool will make it to the champions league this season. Their side is full of mediocre players Gerrard and Torres aside, Hodgson has only occupied the role of manager for a short period and will need time to develop the team and though the new owner is saying all the right things at the minute we will see if he means business in the January transfer window.

Let's, for arguments sake, say that Chelsea, Man Utd. and Arsenal are pretty much guaranteed those positions of first, second and third. Let’s face it; all these sides consistently achieve those spots because even though at times they do play badly they more often than not still win those games.

This means that 4th place will, in all likelihood, be fought out between Man City and Spurs again (and maybe us if we’re lucky). To conclude, I think it will be a season for Liverpool to forget.

I think he wants to leave because he's sick of British tabloid media getting all up in his bizness (his :love-smi: with ladies other than his wife)....

I think Rooney will be playing in Italy in January.

I get FSC, and they've actually have been showing a good number of the games this year, more than normal. I guess I'm just being a bit greedy, used to seeing all Barcelona matches and just hoping for the same for Villa. And the Premier league games on ESPN come on at 5 in the morning here out west, I ain't gon wake up for that.......and you're right, they'd rather put Man United vs. [Insert shit team here] than for example Aston Villa vs. Spurs or something like that which would be much more interesting.......

I have FSC and GolTV. I have DirecTV and both channels are included in their sports package. Before I had FSC Plus but it seemed like they only showed one match a week and my club Man U's matches were always being showed on FSC so I decided to drop FSC Plus and go with the sports pack where I'd get two soccer channels in HD.

I can't see Rooney playing anywhere but England. If he went to Spain, I think it'd be a Javier Mascherano situation. The best player at his position in the Premier League, but can't even break into the first team in Spain. Highly unlikely, but I could see him fitting in with Bayern Munich. Maybe they'll sell Ribery to Real Madrid and in turn use that money to sign Rooney? No chance really, but you never know.........

Btw I do not actually think they'll sell Rooney. At least not til the summer.

I thought his contract was to 2012.

Can't Rooney be sold during the January transfer window?

I don't see Man United ever selling him to an English team unless they rec'd some ridiculous offer like $140mil for him...

Italy or Spain makes the most sense. I think the Karim Benzema + $30mil sounds about right?

Rooney is gone. The problem these days is that contracts mean nothing since they can be bought out by any team interested in that particular player. If a manager with the calibre of Fergie can't hold on to his players (remember Ronaldo) then unfortunately it would seem there is little he can do to stop him leaving, especially if the player has already made his mind up.

According to the papers, the odds are that he will go to City.

I can't imagine he will head to City unless City really are willing to make a redunkulous offer WAY OVER market value...

It's good to be the king...

To quote from Cilla Black "Surprise Surprise"

Wayne Rooney signs five-year Manchester United deal

I would call Rooney a muppet - but that would be an insult to Kermit & co....

As a fan, i call Rooney a bitch, moreover he is injured for 3 weeks. It's not smart, it's purely bitching. It may have a great vibe in the United's roster after that.

Is somewhere outhere.
I think Rooney will go either at New Year or at the end of the season.Man
U needed him to sign a contract so he wouldn't go for free on the Bosman.
So I think it's more a business decision than anything else.

At least now they are guarenteed to get £30-50 million for him.But I think
Rooney's done too much in destroying his status at Man U and England. So
if I was Fergie and bids where coming in.Id give Rooney an atlas and tell
him to "Get to fuck" :hatsoff:

All this signing does is keep him for the rest of this season. I think he will be sold in the off season.

I think the Mancs fans will turn on him if the Mancs have a really bad season (which they seem heading towards)...and the owners aren't dummies...they will appease the fanbase by unloading him.

And Rooney stays... did'nt see that coming I must admit. The board at Man Utd must have more money than sense, though with the debts they are in I can't fathom how they can afford such a ridiculous wage package for one man doing a relatively trivial 'job'. Fergie has come out of this situation quite badly, by agreeing to the deal he has effectively made the point that Rooney is bigger than the club, hopefully this does'nt set a trend in the mindset of other players.

To be fair Icecold, Bridge had very little time to do anything with the ball. A little unfortunate for him but a quality finish from Song. Nasri was easilly the best player on that pitch in my opinion.

Great day for the Goons

The greatest fuckup for City was obviously Boyata's blunder at the 5min mark. Why did he do what he did? Surely he should've known you can't get a red card against the Goons with 95% of the game left! So you got beat on a play, hang with the striker, make the striker work for a shot....and the worst thing is you give up a goal with 95% of the game time remaining to get the equalizer :dunno:

Giving up a goal in that situation is WAY better than getting tossed from the game. Ridiculous (not that I'm too bent over it though :thefinger)

I think we need to play more Rosicky and Walcott and less Arshavin. Arshavin really looks uninterested in playing out there.

Song the goal threat?? Over or under Song and 8 goals for the season??

its taken a couple of years but this arsenal team are really looking good know, need to buy a solid GK, and a couple of star CB coz when vermaelen is out things look a little shaky but in general arsenal will be a force to rekon with soon would be nice to seee joe hart at arsenal

I'm a ManU fan, but you gotta wonder if Rooney is having some kinda mental crisis or if the whole thing was staged along with Fergie. Either way, to say ManU lack ambition and to pocket another £150,000 a week when everything in the country is getting cut, is taking the piss, he should fuck off. Its gonna be interesting to see what reception he gets from fans next time he plays.
