Damn, Verlander looked very human tonight. Two mistake pitches to the Kung Fu Panda and an RBI single given up to Barry Zito (and how about Delmon Young throwing the ball almost straight into the ground on the throw - the hell was that about?). San Fran is still carrying a ridiculous amount of momentum from the previous series and apparently rolled it right into the game tonight. And to sound cliched, the layoff has clearly affected Detroit.

And somehow the Giants found the 2002 version of Barry Zito and pitched him tonight. He's been on all night. Not looking good for the Tigers.

EDIT: 3 homeruns now by Sandoval. That ball was out of the zone and he just lifted it out. Captain Hindsight says not to throw him a hittable pitch again. Ever. Clearly, he ate his Wheaties this morning.

The Tigers are a mosquito trying to stop a charging rhino. IDC if its just game one, their ace was on the mound tonight and it was crucial that they take game 1. Giants have too much momentum.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Ruth, Jackson, Pujols....and Sandoval.

Hahaha.. I should have posted it before the series started but, Sandoval was the only guy that truly scared me.. 3 fuckin homers in one game!! dude is :flame: for sure!!

^^ Yep and yep... makes it six to nil, I feel for you Marlo, really, I like both teams quite a bit.

I'll be good, I just have to change the channel during the games, I've learned how to let it roll off my back so to speak, I hold a grudge but I don't stay demented or anything! lol.. If the Tigers win or lose the WS I'll be good, allot better if they win, but if they lose, I'll get over it, I wasn't expecting them to make it there this year anyway!!! Next year when Victor Martinez comes back, Fielder, Cabby!! and whomever else Detroit can bring in over the winter, I had next year pegged as the year the Tigers were gonna be challenging for the best record in the MLB. @least that's what I was thinking. :D

Dude don't get it twisted, The Cards were rolling then the giants got hot.. Detroit could catch fire in game 2 or when they get back home. It was only 1 game, and now Verlander is just Pissed off and I bet his next start is gonna be a gem. but we'll see, nobody can predict how things play out after just one game, thats why the games are played! Detroit could win the next 4 in a row, you never know. :2 cents:

Appreciated Sam. I like the San Francisco Giants too. :)

Okay test ...

... without looking at the Baseball Encyclopedia or wikipedia, etc ... who was the starting rightfielder in 1975? In 1978?

Theo Epstein said he was encouraged by the progress he saw this year from the Cubs. Really? Did we watch the same team? I could have sworn they lost 101 games this year. Where is the fucking progress in that?

Oh, and they're raising ticket prices too. Because there's no better way to reward a fan base that kept you in the top ten in attendance during another horseshit season than by charging them more money to watch you continue to suck ass for the foreseeable future.

Might have been Murcer or Maddox in 1975. But in 1978 I know it was Jack Clark.

DAMN the giants are playing BADASS!!! Tigers played better tonight but still not good enough, the giants shut them down literally!!! I take my :hatsoff: to the giants. but honestly I am not worried yet, I'm not happy, but I'm not worried, SF did what their supposed to do and that's win @ home. Now if the giants come to Detroit and win games 3 or 4 then I'll be worried, but, if the series goes back too SF tied up, its just like it was game 1 again and nobody has an advantage except the home team.

Detroit MUST win both games @ home or the giants will win the WS no doubt.:brick::hairpull: But like I said, I wasn't expecting the Tigers to make too the WS this year anyway, I was picking them to go next year. if they lose it again this year it'll be fucked up again, but with team there putting on the field and the effort there showing by spending the $$$$ to get better every winter, I think there bound to win it within the next couple of years, I'll just have to wait until they finally are able to win it. :2 cents:

And on another note, despite having one of the nastiest, ugliest beards I've ever seen, Sergio Romo has also got one of the nastiest, filthiest pitches I've ever seen, that ball he throws is like dancing doing corkscrews and has all kinds of crazy ass movement too it, its truly fuckin SICK, thats for sure!! :uohs::eyeso:

Yes, Jack Clark in 1978. and yes, Bobby Murcer in 1975. Gary Maddox was the centerfielder. Very good. ;)

The Giants are halfway there. Two wins away. They are looking good. Solid defense, key hits at crucial points in the game and pitching that is doing really good. Pablo Sandoval hits three homeruns. Two off Justin Verlander. Reminds me of Cody Ross in 2010 hitting those two homeruns off Roy Halladay. Then in the Series, they faced Cliff Lee. And they gave him his first two losses ever in the post season. Today in 2012, we have Ryan Vogelsong. He is pitching well in the post season so far. At home, he was really good this season, while on the road he did struggle. And Matt Cain is also pitching well. They could easily sweep the Tigers here but they won't.

Bruce Bochy is managing just like he did in 2010. He did nothing wrong in 2010 and nothing wrong in 2012. He is flawless. An amazing job so far.

Doug Fister? How did he survive that drive to the head? And he pitched well too. Six innings and only one run allowed. The Tigers even though they only won 88 games this season, they've been fighting off the Chicago White Sox the whole summer. At points, they trailed the White Sox by eight games. And they caught and overtook them. The Tigers do have fight in them. They know how to survive. This series is not over, not by a long shot.

FYI: They play the next three games in Detroit. A must-win isn't a must-win unless it's a must-win (by which I mean that it's only ever truly a must-win if you're facing elimination), but I'd have to say that it's pretty important for Detroit to win all three upcoming home games.

And I fully agree on your assessment of Sergio Romo; that is one of the nastiest sliders I have ever seen.

If the Tigers win 2 of 3 at home I'll keep my mouth shut but for now I stand by my prediction, the Tigers are just facing the wrong team at the wrong time, San Fran is just clicking on all cylinders.

Lineups...

There's talk of Manager Bruce Bochy using Hector Sanchez as the DH in these games in Detroit. Even Pablo Sandoval as the DH. And Joaquin Arias as the third baseman.

Instead, I'd recommend Bochy to use Buster Possey as the DH in these three games in Detroit. Hector Santiago is an adequate backup catcher hitting 3 HR/34 RBI/.280 AVG/.295 OBP/.391 SLG in 74 games during the regular season.

In interleague games in 2012, Giant DHs batted only .200 (7-for-35) with 1 RBI during the regular season.

Heart Attack City!!

With two outs, Miguel Cabrera pops up to Brandon Crawford with the bases loaded. Ryan Vogelsong escapes out of it. End of five innings. Giants still lead by two runs. :)
