Former Blue Jay pitcher Pat Hentgen, Former Expo Pitcher Dennis Martinez &Tony Kubek all elected to go into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016. All very deserving

1. I fucking hate the DH rule. It's my least favorite aspect of the game of baseball. It's why I don't watch any American League games. Why the NL would adopt something from the junior circuit is beyond me. I'm not even interested in hearing arguments on this. Don't want it in the NL. Period.

2. Expectations are incredibly high this year for the Cubs, justifiably so. I like the additions on offense, but I still don't think they have enough solid starting pitching or a reliable bullpen to go the distance. Rondon and Strop are too inconsistent.

3. Carl Edwards Jr. is the name to remember for this year. I think he makes the opening day roster, and I'm hoping he has a huge impact on this season. Or not. You never know. It's the Cubs after all.

Opening Day Lineup:
1. Zobrist - 2B
2. Heyward - CF
3. Bryant - 3B
4. Rizzo - 1B
5. Schwarber - RF
6. Soler - LF
7. Montero - C
8. Pitcher - P
9. Russell - SS

1-6 is pretty scary... :D

Probably the greatest "utility" player to play the game and one hell of a lead off hitter. Tony Phillips had died at 56 from an apparent heart attack. He played a different position almost every day but you couldn't keep him out of the line up. He was just a beast at getting on base. RIP Tony.

Wow. 56?? What a shame....so young. Yeah, he was awesome. I'd put him right up there with Jose Oquendo for versatility. R.I.P. Tony. :crying:

Great news for the fans for a change!! Last year, the MLB.TV online package was $129. After this anti-trust violation ruling against MLB, the price for the premium package will drop to $109!!

http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2016/2/...details-extra-innings-mlb-tv-packages-cheaper

Even better, MLB now is ordered to offer single-team packages for only $85!! They, along with the Fox Sports regional networks and the cable and satellite providers have been boning us for years....now they get a dose of their own medicine! TV coverage for local teams used to be made available on regular broadcast TV and no cable, sattellite or internet was needed. That's all gone now with these huge TV/Cable deals. Now fans can finally watch their favorite teams at a reasonable cost. I highly recommend signing up today....I get every game on my Roku 3 on my TV and now it's about $44/year (almost 35%) less than it was last year. If your are a baseball nut like me, this is a must-have! Find out more here:

Dude, how in the FUCK did I not hear about this when it happened?

Tony Phillips is one of the players I have always most respected. There's just something about players who aren't flashy, players who constantly fly under-the radar, players that remain under-rated during their entire careers that appeal to me. And, Tony Phillips was definitely one of those players.

He wasn't outstanding in any one category. He wasn't a power hitter. He wasn't a magician with the bat or his glove. He didn't have a cannon for an arm. He wasn't the fastest on the bases. However, he wasn't bad at anything - he was GOOD at EVERYTHING.

You'll be missed Mr. Phillips. You have been since the day you left the field.

So... let's wait for the injury reports to start pouring in from siring training.

Jacob deGrom wants a long term deal. Sorry pal, arbitration is when you get out of diapers. Collect your 6 figure check now and throw strikes in 2016. We'll talk later.

Matt Harvey is serious trade bait IF something comes down the pipe. Arbitrate and stay if you want to be here or start looking for a real estate agent. There is a lot of more pitching in the Mets camp to bring up.

Zack Wheeler at camp could replace any of those guys. Jenrry Mejia has gotten his 3rd strike and he is out. More money into the coffers. Danial Murphy to the Nats. Thank you very much for last year but when it comes to playing 2nd base, you are the man with the hands of stone. Time to look elsewhere.

Last year was terrific for me. Everything fell into place.

Makes me smile to see this Mets talk

Nice problems to have for a change

Joey batflip at 35 years old is in his walk year. He's talked extension with the Jays. He wants 6 years & $150 M & won't negotiate. Here Joey-flip this. Sad part is, some asshole owner will give it to him.

Att Mikeyx: It was so nice seeing Tanaka shelled in his last start. But then again Matz and Harvey were just as bad. Did you watch those games? Were Matz and Harvey trying out new pitches.

Ugh. When the pitching is sharp, the bats are anemic. When the Mets put together some hits, the pitching unravels. 10 games do not a season make but spotting a 5 game lead is never a good thing.

Goddamn, this Arrieta guy is good. :D

As a Cubs fan, I'm inclined to be pessimistic. But this year's team is making it hard to find faults. Sure, Hendricks is a mediocre #5 starter. The bullpen is still a little weak (Strop and Rondon as set-up and closer in particular). Not thrilled with Montero and Ross behind the dish. However, these are minor quibbles. This is probably the best Cubs team I've seen top to bottom in my lifetime, and that's damn fun. It's nice to actually enjoy the start of the season instead of expecting the Cubs to be out of the playoffs by June. They're a joy to watch, I just hope it continues.

The loss of Schwarber will be felt. Can't underestimate his bat. He is the Cubs all-time leader in postseason homeruns. Let that sink in. Dude has played one year in the bigs. Hoping for a full recovery.

Coming home with a win over the Reds. Picked up 1.5 games from the road trip. I am still afraid but... Murphy isn't going to hit .400 for the rest of the year and baseballs will be clanging off his glove. The Mets need to keep swing for hits. Hot bats can get very cold and this is what Mets fans live with year after year.

Ugh. Split 4 with those shitty Dodgers. 2 more games at The Launching Pad better rescue this trip. Nats, Brewers, then Nats needs to be a productive. Tell every hitter to hit anywhere Murphy is standing.

Arms are showing weaknesses. Bart is going to be serving long balls and Harvey is blowing the smoke out his ass that was pumped up there by the media.

feller469

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
Thank goodness the Red Sox are hitting right now because the pitching is giving up a lot of runs. When the bats cool, it could be a long couple of weeks.

"Shitty" captures the situation quite well, just as I anticipated it would.
A team on a treadmill to nowhere.
And yet their president of baseball operations is "thrilled" with their performance so far.
He's "proud" of the 'depth of genuine major league talent' he's brought to the club.
Good grief  Time to back away from the modeling glue, Mr. Friedman
