I must revise my picks because I've only gotten ONE pick correct so far (for shame) and it happened to be the only pick I DIDN'T WANT to get right (Yankees over Orioles). Even though not one of the teams that I wanted to see win their respective series actually did so, this has been an incredible divisional championship series round. Amazing baseball thus far.
ALCS
Yankees over Tigers (this could be really close, but having to use Justin Verlander to close out the Athletics wasn't a good thing for the Tigers considering that he'll likely only be available for Game 3 and potentially Game 7 against the Yankees. That being said, the Yankees had to use C.C. Sabathia to close out the Orioles, so same story there. However, the Yankees have more power, better baserunning ability, a deeper bench, and everything else is pretty much a wash.)
NLCS
Giants over Cardinals (this is such a close series. The Cardinals do have a slightly superior offence, and the pitching is pretty much a wash. However, I just like the Giants' starting pitching right now better than I like the Cardinals' starting pitching. I'd like to see Tim Lincecum make a start or two in this series; he pitched in relief twice against the Reds and threw 6.1 innings, allowing just one run (earned), striking out eight, and picking up a W. I think he's earned the right to start (perhaps over Barry Zito) and we all know how dominant he can be when he's on his form.)
World Series
Giants over Yankees (this might be a bad pick, but the Giants clearly have the better pitching staff, and their offence does stack up against the Yankees (albeit with much less overall power). I just think that the Giants are younger, hungrier, and more clutch than the Yankees.)
I guess I would like to see the Cardinals beat the Yankees in the World Series, but the bottom line is that I want to continue to see good playoff baseball and I want the team that deserves it to earn it and win it.
