2010 Tennis Thread (Grand Slams, ATP World Tour, Davis Cup)

I can't believe what I just saw. Feds got pounded by that asshole Soderling :(

Did you hear all the boo's everytime that ahole challenged a Feds serve  Soderling is enemy #1 :thefinger

I doubt he will win his Semi-final match. I'm guessing this win by him has all the makings of someone who totally blew their wad early and he will come out flat against his next opponent...:yesyes:

Should I be rooting for a Soderling v Nadal revenge match for the title?

Does Feds' loss put a question mark on the legitimacy of win last year? ;)

Maybe he won't break Samprass's record of weeks at #1 afterall. :D

my guess: Soderling beat Berdych, and then, he will beat Rafa in the final. So, Roger keeps his no. 1 until next week and tie Sampras. Then, Roger will win Halle, and Rafa Queens, and Roger keeps his no.1 one week more, and voila, there's our record. ;)

i almost cry... :(

seriously. My heart went crazy when robin was serving for match... i was thinking: "oh my god, i thought this would never happen..."

yeah!

in one point, robin made an awesome winner, and all the stadium was silent... on the other side, every roger's point, was celebrated like crazies...

I doubt he will win his Semi-final match.

I disagree. Berdych is playing great, of course, without droping a set. But you saw how robin is serving?? it's HUUUGE. I mean, breakin his service would be a titanic task...

yes. You should. Either if you're a raFANadal or a Robin-fan.
or a robin hater, even.

Not at all.

Let me repeat that:

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

remember Haas in 4th round? remember DelPotro in SF? question mark? naaah.

WTF is going on here? Federer lost to the better player today, period.

Now I'm gonna go with Söderling, should be interesting to see if he can go all the way now and beat Nadal again if he reaches the final.

Man I hope Dementieva can pull it off this year, but Serena just looks too strong...:o

Soderling won't have the ~luxury~ of facing a beaten, wobbly Nadal who can only hop around on 1 leg like last year...

Nadal is going to destroy all who stand in front of him this year :thefinger

Stupid rain, I had to go to bed
But yeah, Soderling is playing huge right now. His serves on average are faster than Roddick's I think(209km/h against Fed) and he is making the big shots consistently enough like he did last year.

Can you be a fan of Nadal and Soderling? :o
They should both make the final now, I do hope Rafa gets revenge though.

that's what he said in the interview after the match:

certainly i hope so. Go, Robin!!! :thefinger (sorry titsrock...)

i hope that too. Go Elena!!! (sorry yanks...)

I think Nadal will send a message to everyone with a huge blowout win tomorrow...:thefinger

Berdych might take out Soderling anyway...Berdych is playing damn tough right now.

Can Djokovic focus and not look ahead to Rafa...especially if Rafa puts 3 bagels on the board tomorrow :thefinger

This French Open is turning into an Epic tourney  sub-plots galore...

i wouldn't expect a blowout... Almagro has won a set in their two last matches, this time, as i said before, he will take another, maybe two.

Like i said, Rafa is losing his server, pretty easily.
And break the serve of someone like Almagro, its no easy task at all.

Nadal can take everyone off the court with that lefty slice serve...he's got new, powerful Babolat strings...

He's got fashion sense for once!

I'm liking a big Rafa win tomorrow :glugglug:

I guess I'm the only fan of Soderling. Either way, the odds of him beating Nadal are slim to none.

What are you basing that on? Certainly not the last clay match they played where Sod won...
Or the most recent match they played when Sod won...
Or their head to head record, 3-2, pretty even...
:dunno:
If Soderling keeps serving 70+% at 200-230km/h, keeps up his consistency with his powerful ground strokes, and Nadal has trouble holding his serve like he has this tournament, I'd give him a decent chance of winning.

Oh, that's right...Soderling did beat him last year at RG. I totally had a brain (post)-fart there. I suppose it could be a real good match then.

:shakeshead: Have people forgot how gimpy and worn out Nadal was last year especially during the French? Hello...he didn't even play in Wimby because he was injured...

Nadal is fresh and will layeth the smacketh on that little bitch Soderling. Mark my words.

I'm not convinced Soderling will even make it to the final. Berdych is playing big right now.

If Nadal dispatches his next opponents in straight sets he will be even more fresh to deliver a beatdown on his finals opponent...:yesyes:

He didnt seem gimpy and worn out after he beat Lleyton Hewitt 6-1 6-3 6-1 in the round before he lost in 2009 :dunno:
I dont think you can put all the blame on his tendonitis.
Obviously Soderling was playing really well, he went on to make the final. He was continually taking big cuts, and it kept working up until then. Big forehand, big backhand, big serve etc. The opponents couldnt dictate play.
Nadal has to hit deep consistently, his half court shots will get whacked for winners like last year, the extra spin and bounce doesnt seem to trouble Sod.
I want Nadal to win, but it might not be too easy for him.

^
Dude! Have you ever played tennis  If you can't run you can't win...Nadal couldn't stand without feeling pain last year...

He will destroy all....

It doesnt matter much how fast you can run if the other guy is firing missiles into the corners every second or third shot, just sayin :dunno:

I love my Nadal, and I fear for it - cue crying :crying:

Everything will be clear soon, the next few days are really interesting :hatsoff:
