^^ Yep Bryan Bros tie the Woodies in dubs slams now :hatsoff:

SuperNole wins his first Wimby  :hybrid:
Played in God mode the first two sets, went away in the third but came back in the fourth on the back of some sick defense.
Nadal seemed high on the error count, probably forced into it from the Djokovic pressure.
Still only 1 loss for Djok, amazing season  Could even win the USO still
Nadal hasn't lost a slam final for a while, no shame in losing to this Nole guy

Djok the man ! it was not -- it has to be said -- a monumental match, and I feel a little sorry for Nadal. still, the best man won ! I found the women's yest. more exciting .

Bloody scotch fool!!!

congrats to Nole,he deserves everything he's getting right now:GS's,world No1.

still....watching the game I felt like the REAL best player was not on the court today.
watching Rafa and Nole hit it out I saw two great athletes, with superb defence tactics,but...they seemed like a couple of boys trying to grow up...(sorry...)
very little risk, very little on the attacking end.mostly baseline tennis...kinda boring after a certain point.some great rallies, but only occasionally.
When Fed is (was) playing his best, tennis is a whole different sport.it's more art...
Rafa has 90% 1st serves in because he mostly serves "safe".just to get the ball over the net, that's all he needs,in his mind.Sampras and Fed are all about taking risks, trying something different, surprising the opponent.and they don't need 50 seconds for every serve....(sth should be done about this.....)
Nole won because, unlike all the other players,he can keep up with the repetitive Nadal style of play.ever since he learned how to stay patient and calm,no way he'll lose to Nadal.
many times, when watching a Fed-Nadal match,I feel Roger loses because he's bored to death.he just can't stand playing a guy that send him the same shot on his backhand over and over and over and over again...in the French Open final, whenever Nadal tried sth different,he lost the point.and then he went back to the "catenaccio" strategy

congrats NOLE!!you make a great No1!!!!!

I've said something about this before as well. WTF, Rafael needs to wipe down after EVERY point? HATE that shit.

I believe he (or someone else) has been penalized for this sort of gamesmanship before if I recollect. Doesn't happen enought though (the penalizing)

Nadal once,yes,he was penalized.
but only once, while umpires should be way more strict about this.
both Nadal and Djokovic take waaaaay too much time for every serve.probably it's their coaches suggestion....

Djokovic's mother says he is a child of God so it makes sense. She also said its the Novak-Novak era now...

Milos recently went through hip surgery for the injury he sustained at Wimbledon. Hope he comes back at 100%. He will miss the Canadian Open though, too bad.

The QF stage of Davis Cup is starting, the most interesting match-ups are USA/Spain and Germany/France. Matches like Mayer/Gasquet and Roddick/Ferrer could be good.

The small tournament at Newport, Rhode Island is currently being held, Isner and Kamke are having some good results, both into the SF.

Isner wins his second career title at Newport, defeating Rochus 6-3 7-6

In Davis Cup - Spain defeats USA 3-1 with Ferrer clinching it with his 5-7 6-7(3) 7-5 6-7(5) win over Fish.
They will play France next, who moved on over Germany 4-1 with Gasquet, Monfils and Tsonga getting singles wins.
Argentina shut out Kazakhstan 5-0 while Serbia beat Sweden 4-1, who didn't have much without Soderling. Djokovic played in the doubles and lost though.

Bastad and Stuttgart starting this week.

Was Isner on the US team as well? I know the Bryans and Fish, but I wasn't sure about the rest of the team.

@ Båstad - Söderling was GOATing beating Berdych in the SF 6-1 6-0 and Ferrer in the final 6-2 6-2 for his fourth title of the season. He was hitting massively and consistently, resistance was futile for David.

@ Stuttgart - Juan Carlos Ferrero wins his 16th career title against Pablo Andujar 6-4 6-0. 31yo JCF still got game :coolman:

Hamburg 500 and Atlanta 250 are up this coming week - Monfils and Fish are their respective top seeds.

Hamburg - Gilles Simon wins his 9th career title against Almagro 6–4, 4–6, 6–4
Simon beat the top seed Monfils leading up to this and they played a 61 shot rally  slow clay

Altanta - Isner reached another final but he lost in 3 to Fish 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2
He was down two match points and 1-5 in the tiebreaker but managed to win

Next tournaments are LA (Fish, Baghdatis, Del Potro), Umag (Chela, Dolgopolov, Fognini) and Gstaad (Wawrinka, Almagro, Youzhny)

This week in Gstaad...Marcel Granollers beat Verdasco in three, 6-4 3-6 6-3.
He beat Youzhny and Wawrinka on the way to his second title - big rock trophy

In Umag, Dolgopolov won his first singles title against the home country guy Cilic, hop-forehanding and drop shotting his way to a 6-4 3-6 6-3 win  He got a big blue trophy.

In LA, Gulbis (Gulbis!) won his second career title against Mardy Fish in another 3-setter, 5-7 6-4 6-4.
He said he had been sick a lot this year but is over it now and feeling the ball good. Good enough to beat Del Potro in the SF and a top 10 player in Fish in the final. He had fallen to 84 in the rankings but this win puts him up 20 to 64. He gets a traditional cup trophy

Next weeks tournaments are Washington DC (Monfils, Fish, Troicki) and Kitzbuhel (Lopez, Ljubicic, Fognini)

In Kitzbuhel: Robin Haase wins his first ATP title against Montanes 6-4, 4-6, 6-1
Good for him, he has had some bad injuries in the past but persevered towards success.

In Washington DC: Stepanek defeated Monfils 6-4, 6-4
'The Worm' is the oldest ever winner at the tournament (32) while Monfils' finals record drops to 3-11. Le Monf had to stay up very late to finish his SF though, there were annoying rain delays.

Montreal has started, JMDP won 6-4 6-0 and Gulbis beat Juan Carlos Ferrero 7-5 in the third.

Wow, two time defending champion Murray just got whooped by Kevin Anderson in the second round 6-3 6-1 (4 breaks to 0)
Kevin was good and Murray was crappy, looked like he was playing in a major final.
