If any team other than Boise State gets the #1 preseason rank next year it will simply provide an exclamation point to all the rancor about the whole BCS fiasco. They have 21 of 22 starters returning next year. They have proved themselves on the field and met every challenge. They should not be denied. Name a team who should be ranked ahead of them and tell me why if you disagree with me.

ESPN was saying that they might start 5 or 6 in the pre season, but of they win aganist Oregon State, VT AND run the table then they might be "considered" to have a shot at the NC. Playoff system fixes all this bullshit.

YEAH boyyyyyyyyyy your back just in time for the NC game, wherehave you been all bowl season? We missed you;)

They might be able to count, but they do need to study up on geography. Phoenix, Tucson, and Pullman, Washington are nowhere near the Pacific Ocean.

It's the PAC-10, as in Pacific, as in region. It isn't the PAC OCEAN-10. And, Pullman is less than a day's drive (about eight hours) to the beach. Phoenix and Tucson aren't much further.

Anyhow, I was just making a snarky comment. After our dismal bowl season, it's all we have.

It seems to me that if TCU won, everyone would be clamoring for a PLUS 1 game after the Tex/Bama showdown. So why doesn't everyone (in the nation) give the same credit to Boise? Maybe TCU really is a good team and 'had their hearts broken' that they didn't get a shot at "a real team" in the BCS. Boise should not apologize to anyone and especially not to TCU. Boise shocked the world by beating Okie but that win also came with Style--the trick plays--the marriage proposal. Even the cynics around the world had to smile at that game.

Why is Boise getting criticism for calling a fake punt against TCU? It's a brilliant, gutsy call in a major bowl game, and it worked? :dunno:

In this sham BCS system we have, the winner of Bama/Tex probably should be Preseason #1. In the words of Nature Rock, to be the man, you gotta beat the man. But absolutely Boise should be preseason #2 and no lower....

Atleast ESPN is consistent with their shoddy BCS post-game coverage. Iowa/GTech was quickly removed from the lead story once it was announced that Shanahan took over the Redskins job (12 hours earlier) and once Randy Johnson announced his retirement...

Did ESPN remove Corso from the BCS coverage? I found it strange to see John Gruden in there instead of Corso. I hope ESPN didn't feel the need to bring in an NFL analyst because that's pretty much all Fox has...:dunno:

There really is no reason why the Big 10 shouldn't have changed to the Big 11 when they expanded. Bigger is better in America, right? I guess "the heartland" has affection for the words Big Ten that nobody else has. :dunno: I hold no special affection for the words or label Pac 10 and would like to see the Pac 10 expand to 14 and go with Pacific Region Conference or the Wild West Conference
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Will the Big 10 be dopey enough to continue using the Big 10 name/brand if they get their 12th team? :dunno:

Becasue the BCS is scared of BSU, which is why they had to play each other. Both teams deserved to play bigtime schools and the BCS once again fucked it up.

Also, look how good Iowa was with Stanzi bac under center. GT was simply owned last night.

Why in the world would Fla been in any one of your play-off scenarios? They had their chance and lost to the Tide.

IMO no play-system should ever have a team in it that does not win their conference championship.

They are? WTF? That play was sheer genius, and so beautifully executed that it should make every football highlight reel ever. The kicker threw a gorgeous pass, in the face of a defender, and made the completion to keep the drive, and win, alive. That whole situation was exactly why football is the greatest sport ever played, and anyone criticizing it doesn't know jack about the game, sports, athletics or life. So fuck 'em. Boise rocked.

My sentiments as well. I'd just drop the number altogether, expand to twelve or more (Boise St and Utah my picks) and be the Pacific Conference, with a northern and southern division playing a championship game which rotates between L.A., San Francisco and Seattle. If the Special Ed Conference can do it, so can we.

Why not Phoenix/Glendale?

New Pac Conf --this would be final expansion. There really can't be a great case for any other school to be included except Fresno State and SDSU/UNLV...

Go to 16 teams--play everyone from your division (7 games, 3 from opposing Division + 2 OOC)

North---Washington, Wazzu, Oregon, Oregon St, Boise State, Colorado, Utah, Stanford

South--USC, ucla, Arizona, Arizona State, Hawai'i, BYU, Cal, (UNLV or SDSU)

The Pacific Region Conference would be the biggest and most desirable. Colorado would quickly jump aboard.

My thinking is that if you're going to expand, you might as well bring in the best teams and maximize revenue :dunno:

If the Pac10 brought in these teams, they could copy the Big 10, start it's own TV network and make way more money than the Big 10 :thefinger
(look at those large TV markets....)

Yes, that would help having a network, but could all of the PAC Ten survive on just 6 home games?

In comparison, because the Big 10 has so many non revenue producing scholarship sports than most conferences, Big 10 members play 4 non conference football games and 3 of them are at home, so they have 7 home games that produce revenue.

Why not Phoenix/Glendale?

Duh. Sorry. There would definitely need to be an AZ game. Good enough for the Super Bowl, good enough for the PAC.

Drop Colorado and the UNLV/SDSU and I'm game.

Damn that would be awesome. We have such a shitty TV deal.

Short answer--yes. Los Angeles, Seattle, Phoenix, Salt Lake, San Francisco, Denver are all rich, populated media markets. Get that TV channel going quick!

Medium answer--are Pac10/Pac14 fans as passionate and willing to travel/pay to see a Conference Title game in addition to a bowl game? Honestly, I'm not sure.

Longterm answer-why wouldn't the Pac10 adopt that 7 home game model?
