I have a funny feeling that the Broncos will not finish #2 in the nation even though there will only be 2 unbeaten teams left after the 7th.

The way the BCS is setup, it doesn't really matter where you finish (if not #1) it only matters where you begin the season....

Boise should be Top 5 (probably 5) when the preseason Hype rags come out in May....:dunno:

ESPN was saying that BSU should get a chance to play for the NC next season. WTF is that about, they are just a bunch of BCS patsies

^When did they say that? They gave the Fiesta Bowl about 2 minutes of coverage last night...GRRRRRR.

It's such a bullshit system it's embarrassing.

This morning, they even had a sports nation poll on it. little to late ESPN, a little to late.

I don’t blame ESPN/ABC/The Mouse, I blame the BCS for signing with FOX.

The problem with FOX is they don’t do any college games all year until the BCS, so they have guys that have been doing the NFL all year. College football and the NFL are different games! The pre game sucks, the play by play sucks, the color sucks, the sideline sucks, the post game sucks. Any bowl game covered by ESPN has a lot better coverage than the Sugar, Fiesta, and Orange bowls.

Thank goodness the mouse had the Rose Bowl and this year the Championship game. Can we really blame the mouse for not devoting a lot of time to an event they did not have access to?

I went down to New Orleans to watch the ritual slaughter of the Bearcats. I wanted to sample the atmosphere of a big bowl game to compare it with all the finals I had been to over the years at Wembley Stadium in England. (For the record the fans were great drinking and mingling before the game - it was New Orleans at new year and just about everybody was lit up. There was not even a hint of trouble. I was shocked by how few cops were in the ground when they are all over theFrench Quarter.)

However, it was apparent to everybody that I travelled down with from Cincinnati that there was only going to be one result. A zero in the loss column can mean a lot of things but it shouldn't result in boring mismatched games like this one. I got my ticket online the night before I left for the game, consequently I found myself in the middle of the Florida faithful. They were all a bit ho hum. They were more about saying goodbye to Tim Tebow than beating the Bearcats. A small playoff series would end this fiasco.

I should add that I used stub hub to get my ticket and it was both a bargain and real convenient. Recommended.

I often wonder about them, glad to see it was positive. I thonght they would jack the prices way up.

Sorry bout them Bearcats.

Well, all yes. I agree with everything you say. Fox is an NFL and Nascar sports network and not much else. I guess they offer some regional NBA and NHL programming but you have to live in the regions.

But, even though what you say is true, wouldn't ESPN anticipate that Fox wouldn't do shit post-game and they'd fill the void? Where were Herby and Corso last night anyway? What else do Herby and Corso have to do? This is their main event time? Once the final game is played we won't see the gameday gang until, what, sometime in June?

Here's an interesting comment from Gene Wojciechowski's column on ESPN.com...
The reality is that the TCUs and Boise States still have to do more than the Bamas and Texases of the football world. They aren't novelty acts, but they also don't have the pedigree of the Tide and Longhorns. They don't get the benefit of the doubt.
So I guess we can be upfront about class warfare in America. His entire column is written in a "holier-than-thou" tone. Hardly any quotes from the BSU players. Lots of quotes from the losing coach.

I must have missed where TCU was supposed to be annointed NC Champs last night after the "formality" of beating down Boise State:dunno: I guess a 17-10 score in the Texas/Bama will be framed as "just awesome slobberknockin' defense by these mighty powers"

The seller sets the price. Stub hub is a flat fee. Part of which involves paying for the person to sit in hotel lobby near the ground to hand out your ticket. It wasn't any different to using ticket master with all their "handling and processing" charges.

The Superdome is massive. It didn't sellout. My ticket including all charges was $110 for a face value ticket of $130. You could have picked up one on ebay for next to nothing the night before the game, but the sellers were all hundreds of miles from the venue - so physically getting your hands on the ticket becomes the problem.

There were plenty of scalpers by the dome but I didn't want to a) carry the cash and b) have to leave it to chance.

I would definitely do it this way again.

 thanks for the imput.

BTW: BCS is shit.

Damn, OU cornerback Dominique Franks declared for the NFL draft. That's a major blow because senior CB Brian Jackson(the guy who shut down Jordan Shipley) is also leaving due to graduation.

The best thing about OU was that they were able to play man-to-man coverage and blitz the shit out of teams. Now, they wont be able to do that.

Bad decision on his part becuase there were a lot of areas he needed to improve on. I'd say he's a 3rd-5th rounder.

My OU rant of the day.

The Boise Broncs are good. But did they prove anything? Would they be a contender for the national championship if the WAC were absorbed into, say, the Pac10? With the big $$$ worm dangling, the infusion of smaller conferences into established larger conferences seems highly possible--consider T.V. and advertising revenues and a university athletic director's desire to keep their job. Join or die.

If any team other than Boise State gets the #1 preseason rank next year it will simply provide an exclamation point to all the rancor about the whole BCS fiasco. They have 21 of 22 starters returning next year. They have proved themselves on the field and met every challenge. They should not be denied. Name a team who should be ranked ahead of them and tell me why if you disagree with me.

i think boise, tcu, utah and cincy would do better in the big conferences than people give them credit for to be honest. if you get on rivals.com and read some posts you see how quickly people dismiss these teams saying they dont play anybody yadda yadda and are afraid to join a real conference. i think some of the "real" conferences may be afraid to let these guys join them cos if they did, there's really no excuses left if they keep winning.

i'm kind of tired of seeing the same group of teams continually winning the national title, i honestly don't mind seeing new blood get in there. i have no allegiance to the usual suspects.

anyway, thats my two cents.

Let's see what Alabama looks like. If they come out guns blazing, and flatten the crap out of Texas, I might like them just as well.

But I'm guessing that won't happen, so you're likely right.
