But I wanted to ask you, since you are pretty much my go-to guy here on NHL talk, which team do you think will win the Northwest Division Conference? Seems we're all in a toss up right now.
I've gotta pick the Canucks to win the Northwest. It's not a guarantee (nothing is), but it's pretty close.
Vancouver is clearly going to win the division. They'll probably run away with it again.
I agree. But I don't think that the Canucks are gonna win the President's Trophy or be the #1 seed in the Western Conference this season.
I also wanted to asked you why Edmonton has such a hatred to Dany Heatley? Why didn't he wan't to go to Edmonton and why did he have no broblem with Minnesota? Did you want him as a player on your squad?
Enlightenmen, brah. :dunno:
When the Oilers had a shot a getting Heatley he was still one of the league's top ten players or so, so we (Oiler fans) were really excited to see him join our team. But he refused to be traded here, which was such bullshit because he had
requested a trade from Ottawa. In my opinion, if a player
requests a trade that should void his no-trade clause. Such classlessness. Plus he's just a classless person in general. However, in hindsight, the trade wouldn't have been that great for the Oilers. Dustin Penner, Andrew Cogliano, and Ladislav Smid. Granted, Smid is the only player left of those three, but we did get some minimal compensation for Penner. Healtey has regressed in a big way; he's still a great hockey player, but he's not one of the league's elite anymore.
The reason why Healtey "didn't have a problem" going to Minnesota was because he no longer had a no-trade clause. He had a limited no-trade clause, meaning that he was only allowed to name ten teams to which he would not be allowed to be traded, and the Wild were not one of ten he chose, so he had no choice when the Sharks traded him there.
Luongo has a whole nation on his shoudlers. Bring in an outsider (like Miller) and you will secure the rightful place of the Stanley Cup Final, you pussies( where it belongs). The Stanley Cup belongs ins Canada, and you pussies disgust me every year you let it come to America.
It does not belong in America, it belongs ins CANADA. Get it right. Your GMs, your coaches, your players - get is right. :hatsoff:
Luongo is weak and soft. Schneider is a far better goaltender. I remember having this argument with a couple of friends of mine (one who agreed, one who thought he was a top five goaltender, which is laughable). I made the point that the only saves Luongo ever makes are the shots that are shot right at him; he never makes
any spectacular or athletic saves. So we searched the internet for highlight reels of Luongo's best saves in his career, and I was proved so so right. The videos of Luongo's career highlight reels have literally
zero "stand-on-his-head" quality saves, not one.
His success in Vancouver is a product of the team of skaters on the ice in front of him. His "success" in the Vancouver Olympics was also due to the team in front of him (though I admit that he played better than Martin Brodeur in that tournament), and Team Canada won gold despite Luongo's (and Brodeur's) poor performance.
I'd have to agree that if Ryan Miller were the Canucks' goaltender, they'd be the unquestioned top contender for the Stanley Cup. Their weakness truly is goaltending. That being said, I still think that the way the Canucks play is gutless and cheap. It does work, though, I can't deny that.
As for the Cup not being won by a Canadian team, who really cares? The players who win the Cup are Canadian, so whatever. 15 of the 21 Bruins players who played in last season's Cup Finals are Canadian. Even when the Oilers lost to the Hurricanes in 2006, the Hurricanes had way more Canadian players, and even had way more Edmontonians on their roster, including Ray Whitney, who was an Oilers stick boy when he was a kid. Plus, the odds aren't really in favour of Canadian teams, there's only been 6 in the whole league of 30 teams for a while (and now 7 with the Jets). What matters is that Team Canada owns hockey gold from the Olympics.
