Tomorrow I have to drive the main squeeze to Sydney for a doc appointment, it's a bit of a hike so we'll stay overnight, have to take the kids because we don't have any family left on this continent.
Sydney's a hot spot right now. 68 cases and more expected. I've got 4 quarts of hand sanitizer, 20 masks, and 120 disinfectant wipes for the 4 of us.
In the 3 or 4 days since this blew up, all other states have closed their borders to anyone from Sydney, you have to do a 2 week hotel quarantine at your own expense if you want to go interstate. The northern beaches area where it started is locked down, nobody in our out except for essential business. 2 people got caught trying to get in there over the weekend and were fined $1000 each.
Same thing happened back in June/July in Melbourne, explosion of cases. They clamped down the entire state, nobody allowed more than a few miles from home, and only outside their homes at all for a very short list of acceptable reasons. The entire state is somewhere around 50 days straight with no locally acquired cases.
That's what happens when your politicians let doctors run the pandemic response.
