NFL '09/'10 Season Thread

Wait a minute dolphins are awesome. They jump and swim and talk and stuff and swim and jump through flaming hoops. Anyway great ending to a nail-biting game. Peyton comes through and it was all good. But that defense is still very porous and Bob Sanders who it seems has been affected by the Madden Curse these past few years, will be eternally hurt. Just let #18 get the ball and hope he does his usual magic.

the wildcat is very fun to watch

I like Gruden in the booth but the reality is that some owner is going to offer him obscene money to coach next year.
Indy sets another record as they where the first team to win with out having the ball for even 15 minutes

I think Gruden is great in the booth but theirs no way he'll stay their. He will wait until a good job opportunity comes available to coach and he'll take it.

He might be waiting a while. There are a handful of better coaches that don't have jobs ahead of him.

I'd route for the Lions, but what's the point?

I still don't understand why Tampa Bay fired him. Are they better off now than they were? I don't think so.

Also, how long will Wade Phillips last for Jerry? Can anyone honestly see him leading the Cowboys to the Super Bowl? Can you say "Dave Campo"??

He's got to be considering making a serious run at a more high-profile coach. Maybe Bill Cowher? (get your checkbook out if you want him, Jerry). Mike Shanahan perhaps?

I'll bet Phillips is fired by mid-season.

I'm a Bucs fan and I think the reason they fired him was because their was no improvement. Since after they won the Super Bowl in 2002 they never got out of the first round of the playoffs. He's a good coach but I think it was time for a change.

^^^ I like Raheem Morris, but aint he a bit young to be with a team that is practically rebuilding? Wouldnt you want a seasoned head coach to guide a young team instead of throwing a young guy into the fire? That defense is really bad too.

Anybody else think Plaxico's 2 year sentence is harse? I mean the guy is an idiot, but how does prison solve this situation? All it does is cost tax payers more money and over crowds the prison which is needed for murders and sex offenders.

I never thought of Gruden as that good of a coach, but others, even in the NFL do, so I'm sure he could get a job eventually. The thing with Gruden is that I don't see him just taking any job that opens up. He probably would want only certain teams and is probably going to demand having a good amount of control over the organization. That will limit the number of openings he can fill, and like you said both Cowher and Shanahan are out there. I would choose either of them over Gruden. Mike Holmgren is still out there as is Marty Schottenheimer. While Holmgren is somebody I think is overrated Marty isn't actually that bad, especially since he learned to get off Marty ball late in his career. I would choose Schottenheimer over some like say Norv Turner that San Diego did.

I think Mike Holmgren will want to stay on the west coast for his next job.
Bill Cowher probably will stay east coast as his kids are in eastern colleges.
Gruden will get a job but not Dallas. in Dallas Jerry wants a coach with no gm aspirations.
