If the commonly imagined god existed, I'd tell that hippie to cut his hair.

I hope there's a Hell. It'll be hot as fuck and the beer will be shitty. I've been drinking plenty of Old Style to prepare...

Religion, how quaint!

I once read a quote that said "With or without religion, good people would still do good and bad people would still do bad." Religion is just an excuse, but we'd find other things to fight over(land, resources) and hate the fellow person for(political views, ethnic background). Its in our nature to do both good and evil.
I think that if God exists he just lets the universe evolve on its own, maybe he has intervened before(in biblical times) but that hasn't stopped us from killing each other. Or it could be that since God is all-knowing, he knows the exact moment he has to reveal himself to the world and that moment has not come yet.

That's a good answer. Thanks Pornophile. I saw some show on History channel today and it got me thinking, which is why I created this thread.

I have pretty much the exact same views as English philosopher Colin McGinn;

It is not only that I don't believe in god, I actually think that in modern society it is actually harmful to do so.

Mind you at one point in my life I was an avid studier of the bible and "Accepted Jesus Christ as my Holy Savior" before a priest. Mind you as well I was 17 and priests tend to be exceptional at what I now realize is what they call the "Sales Pitch" in the world of retail. They are very good at swaying the pliable minds of young people and the masses in general.

There is simply no logical argument to support the existence of a god, or anything else superstitious for that matter. There are hundreds of logical arguments that can be backed up with both evidence and reason to show that these type of things simply could not possibly exist. It is actually quite silly to believe in things of this nature.

Go to church ask the question. Not a bunch of assholes in a porn forum.

That's like saying go to a Ford dealership and ask a salesman if you should buy a Honda

Yeah, I'm an archeology and anthropology student and the bible is a good way of seeing how people lived and told stories 2,000 years ago. It's just a shame it's followers took it upon themselves to burn so much other literature or I would have a lot more to read! :D

Name them. Examples. Quotes from the scientific community denouncing the existence of God. Come on mister know it all. You can't because there is no such proof either way.

How can you prove anything exists? What is your basis of existence? Does it have to be seen? Many things can't be seen and science just has theories for a bunch of shit. Your trying to figure out a dead end path to faith. Faith is just that it's Faith of believing.

Also why would god intervene? Were mortals and we might be on a totally different level as him in our thinking if you throw in science of different dimensions. God may not know everything would be a believable answer for why he doesn't intervene. All powerful beings may not be all knowing in a sense that they don't know what a person is going to do next.

Who knows. I can't figure it out.

plebian
1533 (n.), 1566 (adj.), from L. plebius "of the common people," from plebes "the common people" (as opposed to patricians, etc.), perhaps from PIE base *ple- "to be full" (see plenary). Slang shortening pleb is attested from 1865 (see plebe).

He's just being a blowhard, I think. Though I may be wrong...
