Coronavirus

I am in America, not of it.
So how about this. We all know that many first responders and healthcare pros are not willing to get vaccinated, for whatever reason. Maybe we can work out a way to have Covid only hospitals staffed by the ones who are not afraid of it or afraid of the vaccine more? Might be a little complicated but then the other hospitals could then go back to doing everything else and the exposures and deaths might be isolated some more anyway. And if the number of non vaccine worker is short then maybe a big pay check for some of the other vaccinated ones to come to work there. Just a thought to quote Beau.

Wonderful idea. But the ones who need it most will scream Fake News. So there we are. Perhaps if we call it a monument to Human Stupidity it will have more impact?
Nah, be more blunt. Have an empty section cordoned off with the sign "Reserved for Anti-vaxxers".

The Side Effects of COVID-19 Compared to the Vaccine

California to mandate Covid-19 vaccine for students

So they have applied for emergency approval for this drug for Covid. Will the antivaxxers then use that as a reason not to take the new drug even though it seems to be very effective? Or as with the vaccine will they refuse to take it and wait to see when full approval comes?
Would it make a difference?
Unless it's the idea that they're opposed to injections, I don't know if anti-vaxxers would be swayed.

But if the method of delivery is their primary concern, maybe we should just develop a COVID suppository? After all, I've heard many of them yelling "You can take your vaccine and shove it up your ass!"

Separate but equal. (y)

Ah yes. You think the outrage over a vaccine mandate to enter a restaurant was bad - wait until this is implemented.

I got a better much easier sensible method. The anti-vaxers can just plain be fired. There is no reason to overcomplicate it.

For any other place that doesn't allowed them they can just then be ostracized from society and they cry salty tears and face the repercussions of their actions.

Personally I'm to the point now that the vaccine is out that I hope as many of them die as possible that are adults. That's not out of malice or hatred, but the knowledge that with every one of them the world doesn't have anymore it's just that little bit better of a place to be. That goes double for the ones that won't be alive to vote anymore. That's among the most harsh thoughts I've had in my life, but they don't have anybody else to blame but themselves. I'm tired of people that are a net harm to to the world keep doing that harm. If they toss their life away to die on their stupid little hill, fine by me.

D-rock: People VOLUNTARILY choosing to not be vaccinated against a potenitally fatal infection is Darwinism at its finest.

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness drops 6 months after 2nd dose: study
https://globalnews.ca/news/8243462/pfizer-covid-vaccine-six-months-study/
This confuses me. I understand that vaccine may not be as effective against variants, but how does vaccine efficacy drop so quickly against the initial virus it was supposed to protect against? I'm hoping the article is right in that it has something to do with masking adherence, occupation or something else, as I'm not looking forward to getting a booster every 6 months which could take me out of a day of work.

Moreover, imagine the near-impossibility of convincing those who didn't even want to get one jab after all this time.

The less vaccine they use, the more for us.

I don't recall the seasonal flu vaccine only being effective for 6 months. Plus, the main reason we get a yearly shot is because they are protecting us from different strains of the virus, and not because the efficacy against the strain they were meant for is decreasing. Are all mRNA vaccines subject to this drop? Or just the COVID ones? If this was typical of mRNA vaccines, they certainly didn't make it clear. Again, I'm not expert, hence the confusion.

Canada imposes COVID-19 vaccine mandate on federal workers, transportation

https://www.reuters.com/world/ameri...ll-be-put-unpaid-leave-globe-mail-2021-10-06/

They won't "fire" you, but they'll put you on indefinite unpaid leave. Although that was promised even before the election, so it's not a real surprise. Seeing how the US has put a similar mandate with a Nov. 22 deadline, I don't think you can say it's drastic. The real question is, are they really going to follow through with these mandates when the time comes in November?

As for the traveler's mandate, that's also going to be interesting. I would certainly feel more comfortable flying knowing that everyone on the flight was required to be fully vaxxed.
