Donald Trump said, "Rudy Giuliani, by far, the greatest mayor in the history of New York City." That made me laugh.

If the President said that because of 9/11, three months does not qualify. Three months later on January 1, 2002, Michael Bloomberg was inaugurated in his first term as mayor.

Since 1945:

A. Fiorello H. LaGuardia
B. Ed Koch
C. Robert F. Wagner, Jr.
D. David Dinkins
E. John Lindsay
F. Abraham Beame
G. Rudy Giuliani
H. Michael Bloomberg
I. William O'Dwyer
J. Bill de Blasio

He's better than Bloomberg, O'Dwyer and de Blasio. But he isn't even close to the top. Far from it.

Imagine the Powers That Be at SNL when they first saw Melissa Carone with that incredible upper-Midwestern accent like someone from the movie Fargo (I know she's a Michigan gal). Some very low hanging fruit but her impersonation was good. Must have been fun playing her.

The Rudy Giuliani impersonation was terrible though. Playing a pinkie-ring wearing, bulging eyes having, not aging gracefully, loudmouth NYC WOP political operative lawyer should have been easier and played out better.

In awarding a Medal of Freedom today to Dan Gable, Trump states: "He won 117 consecutive matches and lost only one. Well, you know, in politics, I won two, so I'm 2-0, and that's pretty good, too. But we'll see how that turns out,"

I haven't done the research, but I'll bet he's the only US president in history to lose the popular vote in every election he's run in.

No. The 1884/1888/1892 elections are the issue.

Grover Cleveland ran in all three and won the popular vote in all three. Benjamin Harrison won the electoral college in 1888.

James Blaine lost in 1884, but Harrison lost in 1888. Consequently, Harrison is the only other president to lose the popular vote twice in a row.

Trump is channeling his inner Benjamin Harrison.

Very good article.

Jared Kushner bragged to Bob Woodward, Trump “basically did a full hostile takeover of the Republican Party” because his resonance with voters was less about policy and more about “attitude.”

In thinking back over American history, Andrew Jackson seems to be the only president who had a cult-like following. He was screwed in 1824 by the politicians, vowed revenge, and then roared back in 1828 and 1832. He also demanded (and rewarded) loyalty and enjoyed settling scores.

With those thoughts, is it time to re-create the Whig Party? Who will be the modern-day Henry Clay?

Provided that President Trump is not convicted of anything. The House of Representatives will not allow a convicted felon to put applications in.

Let's take it to the other extreme.

But what if Donald Trump passes away before 2024 ...

The song will just about be over.
Agreed.

Speaking of songs about to be over:

... and then there is this:
https://thehill.com/regulation/cour...s-in-supreme-court-seeking-to-delay-electoral

Texas is suing GA, MI, WI, and PA in order to prevent their electoral votes from being counted. Why?
"Their failure to abide by the rule of law casts a dark shadow of doubt over the outcome of the entire election ... We now ask that the Supreme Court step in to correct this egregious error.”

MI didn't like it: "The erosion of confidence in our democratic system isn't attributable to the good people of Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia or Pennsylvania but rather to partisan officials, like Mr. Paxton, who place loyalty to a person over loyalty to their country,"

GA didn't like it: “With all due respect, the Texas Attorney General is constitutionally, legally and factually wrong about Georgia.”

PA didn't like it: "These continued attacks on our fair and free election system are beyond meritless, beyond reckless -- they are a scheme by the President of the United States and some in the Republican party to disregard the will of the people-- and name their own victors."

WI didn't like it: "I feel sorry for Texans that their tax dollars are being wasted on such a genuinely embarrassing lawsuit. Texas is as likely to change the outcome of the Ice Bowl as it is to overturn the will of Wisconsin voters in the 2020 presidential election."

Man...do NOT watch that SNL parody BEFORE you watch the real Melissa Carone. Because...deeeeeaaaammm. Seriously...I think Melissa was my waitress at Denny's last week. I'm no psychologist, but I'd be on board with giving Melissa to the lab workers at Eli Lilly for experimentation. And who was the inspiration for her wardrobe...Phyllis Diller? MAD Magazine couldn't come up with a character this bizarre. If anyone has any more questions about the credibility of this litigation process, see Nurse Ratched immediately.

Melissa Carone's performance was so over-the-top it looked like she was auditioning for SNL to play herself. I noticed Rudy Giuliani looking like the Voice Of Reason in the room putting his hand on her arm trying to get that dingbat to stifle herself. Rudy being the calmer, saner one seems funny on its own.

Why hasn't Ken Paxton, the indicted Texas AG's bribery, securities fraud and corruption issues ever gone to trial? He was indicted way back in 2015. What are they waiting for? His law license should be suspended. The Texas bar should act.

In New York State, any lawyer under criminal indictment will have his law license suspended. It's an almost immediate happening. A conviction against the attorney will lead to a disbarment. And the disbarment will come within two months after the conviction.

Here's what legal experts are calling this attempt by the state of Texas ..

I particularly like Rick Hasen's comments:
