*2024 US Presidential Elections* - Candidates, Statistics, Campaign Timelines, Debates

How much do you guys feel the Ukraine vs Russia and Israel vs Middle East Wars impacted the election? I didn't see a huge difference on the Israeli situation between Harris & Trump especially since the Israeli lobby corrupts both sides of the aisle but there is a big difference on the Russia vs Ukraine War. It depends what you want.

The one person I truly feel sorry for is Maya Rudolph. Maya is a very talented lady who was a great Kamala Harris on SNL. Maya can play almost anyone and she can sing too. Always been a fan of hers.

She definitely would have had a solid gig for the next 4 years.

As VP, Harris was the natural choice to be the "heir apparent" to Biden although probably not the Dem's best option as the Party's nominee.
Much like her rise and fall back in 2019 during the Democratic Primary, when she initially garnered great enthusiasm, only to watch it fizzle,
history repeated itself in her presidential run, which also showed much promise early on, only to lose steam down the stretch.

I have to wonder how different [if at all] the outcome of the election would've been if Biden had announced a year earlier that he was not going to run again.
This would've allowed ample time for an actual Democratic Primary process to determine who best should lead the party.
The political disaster that unfolded on Tuesday may very well have been averted were it not for Biden's [initial] misguided decision to run again.

I am sure these two conflicts massively influenced the election decisions. And I sure hope that the Ukraine and Israel have backup plans already ready to go.

Israel has no back up plan other than business as usual. If anything, they will get more from the Trump administration.

Ukraine? They will depend on Europe and the scraps the US decides to dole out. Settling the dispute with Russia and losing some territory is probably their backup plan. Then again, I didn’t originally think they would last four days against Russia. 🤷‍♂️

I heard Sheldon Adelson's widow, Miriam, donated $90 Million to Trump. I think they have plans for the Israelis and the West Bank. You may have heard about a riot in a LA synagogue. They were holding a real estate seminar in there seeking interest for Jewish Americans to potentially purchase property in the West Bank. That's where the anger came from but, of course, the media decides who is the victim. I think Trump may be compromised on Israel and the result may be he allows them to do as they will. Honestly I don't think the Palestinians or Lebanese people would feel any major difference if Kamala Harris were President either.

The Russia vs Ukraine War is where we see the difference. There are many sides to take on this war but mine is seeking a deal for peace that saves the lives of Ukrainians and saves the rest of the world from throwing good money after bad. I think the outside architects of this war were more concerned with degrading Russia than helping Ukraine. Continuing this war results to the daily deaths of many Ukrainians with nothing positive to look at on the horizon. I would hate to look at my own country as nothing but someone else's battlefield to take his old grudges out on. The Ukrainian people suffer while others get rich. Ukraine was never going to get into NATO. Can you honestly blame Russia for not allowing it?

Republicans win the House, NBC News projects, as Trump's party takes full control of Washington

It's official, the trifecta is complete. Add that to SCOTUS as well and you have one of the most powerful regimes in recent US history.

I don't even know the last time in US history that a party controlled the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches like this.
*edit* The last year one party controlled all three branches of the federal government was 2007, when Republicans held the White House, both chambers of Congress and a majority on the Supreme Court.

Or 2017? You posted an article from Dec 2016.

In 2017, the Republicans had a 241-194 advantage in the House. They will fall way short of that majority now. The Senate was 52-46-2 (essentially 52-48) Republican leaning. They will exceed that margin. SCOTUS was 4-4 heading into the 2016 election and 5-4 after the Republican majority was seated in January 2017 and Gorsuch confirmed in April 2017. At 6-3 now, conservatives have solid control - no Anthony Kennedy swing vote to moderate things.

Even with that kind of power, tump wasn't able to build the wall or get the full Muslim ban he promised (among other extreme promises he made). I think that's a good sign that even with full control, he can't do everything he wants. Or maybe I'm just being optimistic.
