The Ivanovic comeback continues, she won the Bali Tournament Of Champions (like a lower level YEC?) with an ace against Kleybanova
6-2 7-6(5)

Maybe Ana will be back in GS contention soon, or at least back in the top 10.

James McOnie was the post match MC, wasnt expecting that. Although I guess no one else here will know who he is.

Basel and Valencia finals are on in a few hours, Fed/Djok looks the more interesting of the two. Roger looking for revenge after Novak beat him in the final last year. Thats on top on the USO revenge Fed got after beating him later on in Shanghai. Maybe Djokovic will want revenge against Fed for getting revenge against him in that match too, who knows. Either way, someone is getting revenge :nanner:
Too late for me though, cya

Lugz and Lech:

Can I catch all the stuff on my Directv channel? You guys are so ahead of me on info/channels. I am working on the degree right now and to some of the broadcasts but not all, but it seems a little behind.

My tennis obsession is filling by:
- Fox Sports (broadcast all the ATP 500's and some of the 250's)
- ESPN (broadcast all the Grand Slams and Masters 1000 and Year-End-Championship, and almost all the US Open Series)
- DirecTV (a friend of mine has it, and it has a lot of coverage, but mostly WTA. Sorry but i can't be more detailed about this :( -talk to your DirecTV support, i guess :dunno:)
- FromSport.com (live internet streaming)

David Ferrer won the ATP 500 of Valencia

It's his 9th career title, 2nd of the season, and he's now in a very good position to make the YEC for 2nd time in his career. He beat Granollers in straight sets. This boy was playing his first final in two and a half years, and, being a Lucky Loser this week, shouln't be that dissapointed.

Davis faces Fognini/Berrer in Paris (veeeery easy) and then probably Melzer, in a dangerous match. Granollers faces Nalbandian (ouch!) in Paris 1st round. And if he makes it there (i don't think), he will face Andy Murray... not too many chances there either :(

:nanner: Roger Federer won "his" ATP 500 of Basel :nanner:

http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2010/11/44/Basel-Sunday-Federer-Reclaims-Crown.aspx

It's his 65 career title, 4th of the year, 2nd straight, 3rd in the last two-and-a-half months
Also, he has made (at least) finals in 5 of his last 6 tournaments (and 6 of last 8)

talk about a "strong finish" of the season...

He flipped in the 2nd set, but comeback strong in the decider, with two breaks.

He faces Gasquet/Mahut in Paris on Tuesday/Wednesday in a not-to-many-problems match. Next will be probably Almagro, who is always dangerous when serving good. Heck, he got already two titles this year!

And for Nole, it was his 4th final of the season, and dropped to 6-12 against Roger.
Looked a little bit tired, breathing too hard IMO (doesn't he always?) but choking in the decider. :anonymous

A couple of ATP 500 titles and a Grand Slam final... i wouldn't call it a "great" year for someone like him. :2 cents:

He will face Monaco/Querrey in Paris this week (ouch!) and if he make it trough, will be Isner/Llodra (ouch again).

I don't really think he can defend his title.

With the Basel title, Rogi has now won 9 different tournaments at least 4 times

AO
US Open
Wimbledon
Cincinnati
Basel
Halle
Tennis Masters Cup/YEC
Hamburg
Dubai

wow

that has to be a record!

that's just amazing, specially the 3 grand slams and the YEC and the 2 masters cup. I mean, it's not like he has dominated some obscure and rare ATP 250 event or something...

Now he wants to win in Paris for the first time though

And with the withdrawal of Nadal, he has a good chance. His main rival, IMO, it's only himself, since Murray is playing not too good and Nole is tired.
I Hope he wins, so he could be the only one with all the masters 1000 finals (or better), including Hamburg ;)

McEnroe shares the record with Fed, not sure about anyone else

US Open
Stockholm
Dallas WCT
Wembley
Philadelphia
San Francisco
Milan
Queens
Sydney Indoor
------
If Fed wins Indian Wells again it will be another 4-set, putting him to 10.
He should be looking to win AO, that would make 5+ wins in three different Grand Slams.

wow

amazing. Really amazing.

If you stop and look closer, it's something truly unbelievable: 5+ titles in 3 different grand slams? c'moooooooooon... definitely the GOAT, IMHO.

and for indian wells, he completes now 4 years without making the final:
- 2007 losing to Cañas (2R)
- 2008 losing to Fish (SF)
- 2009 losing to Murray (SF)
- 2010 losing to Baghdatis (1R)

all of them, playing not-so-good, specially against murray (1-6 in the decider)

but if he continues to playing like now, and has a decent result in Paris and London (that is: final or title), the 2011 would be a very motivated year, specially the first semester, where he has a lot of points to gain (and Rafa a lot to defend)

Watching Roddick/Gulbis at the BNP right now on TTC as I do research here at 3:56am, and Roddick is rolling so far. Too bad I need to get a few hours of shuteye though. Roddick looks fresh though and his serve looks sharp as well. Gulbis needs to step it up.

Looks like Joke got mopped up by Llodra as I woke up today.

yeah. Awesome, "energetic" match, very intense, very loud, very emotional.

but Nole isn't sad:

Djokovic sees positives in losing

http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/newsdetail1.asp?storyid=185679

on other news, Roger was supreme beating Radek again, after last week Basel-slapping.

http://tennisworld.typepad.com/racquet_reaction/2010/11/paris-federer-d-stepanek.html

more variations on Federer virtuosity, as his final winners to unforced errors ratio—33:13—indicates.

next, Melzer. A streaky player who can beat anyone (Rafa included) or losing against anybody (Nieminen in Bangkok, or Polansky in Canada)

the truth is: Roger is playing superb. All the players of the tour must be very worried (well, maybe except Rafa and just maybe Murray). :angels:

Murray had a close call against Cilic, who threatened to stop sucking for the first time in a while.
Cilic was up serving 5-4 in the first set, but got broken. Then he made it to the tie break where he had a set point with Murray serving, but lost that and the next two to lose the set.
In the second he turned it around and won 6-3.
But then in the final set he got down early at 1-4 and couldnt come back. He lost 11 straight points or something at one point.
This was after Murray needed 3 sets to get past Nalbandian. I dont know if he playing bad or not since he has been so streaky this year, but he should probably beat Monfils, and Fed should beat Melzer. On current form you would think Fed has the advantage but Murray owns him in MS1000 matches.

2006 Cincinnati- Murray
2008 Madrid- Murray
2009 Indian Wells- Murray
2009 Cincinnati- Federer
2010 Toronto- Murray
2010 Shanghai- Murray

5-1 doesn't look good for the Maestro.

Also not sure if Davydenko is back to being good. He beat Belluci who is talented, but Berdych sucks right now so its hard to gauge how much Davy can take from that win.
Llodra is hot right now and might beat him :dunno:
Roddick/Soderling could go either way I think too :dunno:

it certainly doesn't.

but Roger has lost two in a row against Murray... and he's aware of it. So, i want to think that he'd in revenge-mode + his high level of playing = straight sets win ;)

couldn't agree more.

I saw the Kolya game, and both played poorly. And i saw the Llodra game too, and he played with heart and guts. If he can play like that again (and the crown gets behind him again) he should beat Nikolay.

Oh, by the way, Llodra is playing his first-ever Masters 1000 singles QF.

The road is clearing for Roger now with Murrays loss to Monfils :hammer:
Another three setter and one too many for Andrew, he might not have beat Fed if he kept playing like that anyway.
Monfils should be an easier opponent for Federer. He hasnt beat anyone playing amazing to reach the semis or anything, and Fed is 5-0 against him although 3 of those were on clay.
On the other side Llodra is actually 2-0 against Soderling, it might depend if he can keep up his high level of play since Soderling is probably due for a win.
Predicting a Fed vs Sod final where Fed will win. Llodra has a pretty good chance to make it too though, however not good enough to beat a resurgent Maestro imo. They have only played once - this year at Toronto where Llodra lost in straights.

i saw both matches, and Llodra is playing better. Much better.
Soderling won, only 'cause Roddick was pretty bad in the big points.

The road has ended for Fed :hammer:
Bad third set tie break there, went into Federror mode. 5 match points squandered throughout the set too.
Also Robin saved about 3 MP's to beat Llodra.
Both great semis in terms of competitiveness :nanner:

Robins first MS1000 final, suprising. Gaels second, he might win this year after losing to Djokovic last year.

 FIVE MATCH POINTS

un-fuckin'-believable

:anonymous

Baghdatis in Indian Wells: 3 match points
Berdych in Miami: 2 match points (one with his own serve)
Nole in US Open: 2 match points
and now this ???

WTF, Rog ?

He needs to make (at least) the final at London to get a decent 2010 (by his extremely high standards, of course)

So Feds lost to Sods, even after the beat down he administered to Sods a couple weeks ago.

Surprising. I look forward to the finals though. I hope I am up at 7am. :hatsoff:
