What gives us the right to eat other creatures?

That's a stupid argument. Of course people will cry like babies if aliens take over our planet and start to use human beings as a resource. Nobody wants to die, so that argument is moot.

I'd like to think that the entire GLOBE would come together and fight this alien civilization...but who knows...maybe "the elites" would sell off the rest of us just to save their necks?:dunno: (I think that was the premise in the XFiles)

Animals have the right to be tasty and we as humans are exercising that right. Plus we have the guns that say we can.

God gave us the right.

Atheists are more likely to be vegetarians and vegans.

In other words, will you cry like a baby when another alien race come to this planet and decides to make products out of humans such as burgers and soap?

What makes you think they don't already. THEY'RE HERE!!!!

p.s. animals are tasty if they don't want us to eat them they should stop being so delicious. :thefinger

God gave us the right?

How about this. We're are higher on the food chain. Natural selection gives us the right. We are smarter and therefore more capable of killing and eating other, less intelligent lifeforms.

It's not even about whether or not we have the "right" to eat other creatures. We just can if we want to. The same way a shark can eat a seal or a lion can eat an impala.

God doesn't give us the right to do anything. In fact, he doesn't do shit. God can't even exist unless humans choose to believe in him. Therefore, humans are higher than God. I guess that means we can eat him. Communion anyone?

Bullshit. I'm an atheist and I adore meat.

We have the right, because we are living beings. The other creatures eat each other on a daily basis. Why should we be an exception?

Nah I think I'll pass on God, I have a feeling he'll taste rather fishy :dunno:

Frame, there is more than considerable evidence that plants respond to specific sensory stimuli, but at the same time there is very little scientific to suggest that they have the capacity to feel pain. YOU COME BACK TO ME WITH THE SCIENTIFIC PROOF THAT PLANTS FEEL PAIN AND THEN I'LL TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY!

i have "felt" plants emotions on more than one occasion, usually following the ingestion of magic mushrooms which opens the doors of perception and lifts the filters that our brains self-impose in order to orderly process the bombardment of stimuli we receive each second we are awake. plants can "feel" thirst, stress, hunger, joy at being alive (especially flowers which do not live for long) etc. there are more than a few people who can communicate with plants (i am not one of them). you should always treat plants with respect :wave2:

It's called irony. Funnily enough there are still a lot of people on Earth who DO believe that eating other animals is a God given right. :dunno:

As I said in a previous post, rights are essentially meaningless. When we talk about human or civil rights what we mean is that society has decided that we should treat each other in a certain way and has the power and authority to back that up.Animals have no rights except what we give them. Can rabbits apply to the courts to prevent them from being attacked by a fox?
