Only one to pick the Isles. Just sayin.
That Vancouver pick looks pretty bad though.

Yeah that was pretty ugly but what did anyone expect being the 8th seed up against the Hawks? Only thing they can do is come back to the X and try to win one game. I'll check out the HF board later but I'm starting to think most of the guys who post on there are complete simpletons.
Don't get me wrong, the Wild board are by far some of the most knowledgeable in the game....
I've been spending way too much time on the Kings board so "knowledgeable" is not a word that immediately jumps to mind when I think of the HF forums. :1orglaugh
Don't get me wrong, the Wild board are by far some of the most knowledgeable in the game, since of course that's like our number one sport (biggest state tournament in the entire country in any sport), and we've produced more pros than any other U.S. state.
I think people are just really into seeing this club win a Cup (or two, or three...)
Maybe it just goes to show how emphatic hockey fans are about the sport. In MN, I know every type of fan, and honestly I think there really is no hierarchy, outside maybe the Wolves ranking below the other "big" 3. They're the outsiders here in which team we want to bring another world championship home first.
The problem I have with some of the Wild faithful is that by signing Sutter and Parise they thought it was an automatic Cup, and after every dry spell this year they called for Yeo's head (I'd like to think I was one of the sane voices in that matter telling them to give the guy a tad more time).
I never was delusional enough to expect a Cup this year, but I was hopefully we would be a contender for a run at the WCF (Melrose DID pick us to win it afterall [yeah, I know...]), because I had season tix for our run to the WCF in 2003 with what seamed like less talent that year.
It will come in due time, but until then...we still got pro hockey back. Glass half full. Such is life.
I think the Wild can give the Hawks a run for their money before this series is over. They need to win the next one at home and then see what happens. I also agree that just adding Parise and Suter is not enough to be a Cup contender and those who thought so are indeed delusional as you suggest. The Wild have so many young players who have not fully blossomed yet. They should be much more of a threat in the next couple of years. Also, Backstrom's injury, Heatly's injury, Pominville's injury (I guess he is back now)....all these have slowed down the Wild's progress. To call for Yeo's firing is ridiculous. He led them to the playoffs and they were in contention for the division title for much of the year. Their future is bright....just stay the course.
By the way, the Aeros are playing a decisive game #5 against Grand Rapids tonight. I'm hopeful we can win and give the Houston fans another opportunity to see high-caliber playoff hockey once again before our team is taken away from us and moved to Iowa. So sad....I'll always be an Aeros fan no matter what!
Great game by the Wings coming off that awesome game 2 win!! they're definitely gonna win this series. :hairpull: :suicide:
That was tough to see. Personally, I'd love to see the Wings beat the Ducks, so they can play against the Hawks (pending their win) one last time in a Western conference playoff series.
I just watched the clip of Justin Abdelkader's hit on Toni Lydman in the last game. His feet left the ice. Suspension-worthy hit for sure. Detroit didn't need that to happen now.
Toronto won. wat?
Yeah....I was impressed. I'm sort of a closet Leafs fan anyway and I hate the Bruins. Blues lost though. Oh well....did anyone think this was going to be a sweep? Brutal series so far. Like a deathmatch....they should put chain-link fencing around the rink like they did in Rollerball (the original....not that idiotic remake).
Also....goodbye to the Aeros. It's all over. So sad....the day that hockey died in Houston. :crying:
Sorry to hear that. Shame they are leaving, it sounds like there was some support there.
Chi-MN has been a barnburner so far - MN have played their best so far this post season.
Yeah we outplayed the whole game - just like us to bring it to OT though. Maybe we pull the next one out at the X and make the series interesting...I'd say either way next game is a must win.
Yeah they've all been top shelf.Looks like the Wild have found a way to exploit Crawford's weakness by going top-shelf. Both Bouchard and Parise scored on almost identical backhand shots upstairs to the glove hand. It will be very interesting going forward to watch how they attack the net.
I'm a Blues fan first and foremost but I am seriously rooting for Minnesota to beat Chicago. Go Wild!!!
