Re: 2013-14 Football ("Soccer") Thread

The British pundits seem to be going for Argentina

Who? Most of ours that I've listened to are taking the lazy approach of "Brazil are the favourites, but Spain could win it too, and you can't rule the Germans out."

The only pundits I've heard agree with me on the Argies are Gary Lineker (whose opinion I certainly respect) and Mark Chapman (no comment).

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
If the refereeing doesn't get better, this will be a World Cup worthy of a few Academy Awards.

Cracking result tonight :

The reason Marcelo's concentration waned is now obvious.

Can't wait for the match tonight!!
Backed Balotelli to score first. So here's hoping.;)

Oh well, this world cup is now too hard to call in the semis, there's no clear winner, we will see who has another gear, maybe that is Brazil, though first they have to get past the Germans who want to pass their way to the final

Argentina has had it relatively easy up to this point. Got nothing against them, but I feel like they're the least deserving to be in the semis. Their group was a fairly easy one, and the knock-out bracket was good to them. Had they faced Mexico or Chile in the 2nd round, I don't think they would've gone on to the quarterfinals.

The other 3 I really like, especially Brazil and Germany. Have ties to both countries so it will be hard to watch on Tuesday. I really like how Brazil has found a way to score without relying as much on Neymar recently. And Germany has got good players in every position, and they pass the ball like no other (only Italy did it better, but it wasn't enough was it?). And the Netherlands are just spectacular! What a stroke of genius that was to bring in Tim Krul for the penalty kicks! And how they pulled out that victory against Mexico only they know.
