Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Then I was sickened by what happened in St. Louis, the Kings were pretty much dominated the whole game, then managed to get the tying goal in the last minute too ensure overtime, then the hero of last years Kings Playoffs (Quick) makes a terrible play behind the net and it resulted in the goal that gave the Blues the win, not only was it a terrible play by Quick but it was shorthanded to add insult too the misery.
Quick was very lackadaisical on that play for sure. I have no idea what he was thinking. Steen had just jumped onto the ice on a line change and went at the back of the net very aggressively, no one from the Kings was there to help (that's crazy....who was supposed to be covering him for LA???), Quick coughs up the puck and Steen wraps it around the post for the winner. I really felt that the Blues would lose after that backbreaking tying goal by the Kings with less than a minute to play but the Blues' non-stop effort in the game finally paid off with the shorty in OT. I predict that whoever wins game #2 will win the series.
And finally my Red Wings who haven't won a game 1 on the road this Century looked pretty flat, Howard played a stellar game again, both goals he allowed were almost impossible to stop, a deflection / tip got past him and another one he was totally screened and didn't even see.
All in all, it was a + that, we only lost by a goal if you don't count the empty netter, I think Detroit will play better in game 2 and hopefully steal a win in Anaheim too come home with the series tied, if not oh well, don't expect Detroit too get very far this year anyways, it doesn't really matter if they lose in the 1st round this year, it was just an incredible feat, for this team to make the playoffs, any advancement in this years playoffs will be a bonus and a pleasant surprise too boot, oh well, now I have too wait until Thursday to see if this series will be evenly competitive. :hairpull:
The Wings will be all right but that has to include a must-win in game #2.
