"I am not an idiot like you are"

Again, I never said this either. The sentence was this:

I am not an idiot like you are apparently trying to prove to everyone.

As in "I am not the idiot you are trying to make me out to be." I'll be the first to apologize here because I know my comments were out of line and rude. I absolutely hate it when people make quips about my intelligence because I find it incredibly insulting and so yes, I went overboard. Apologizes for that. I know you aren't an idiot and I think you are one of the better hockey minds here.

Please, if you feel the need to reply, do it in a PM. Petra will kill me if she sees me participating in sending a thread off-topic.

And I agree that Vancouver/Nashville will be a great series. Vancouver just went through a horribly seven games with Chicago and now they get to face a team that can suck the life out of any team over a series. Nashville has a legitimate chance to win this one in less than seven.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
P.P.S. I know that you didn't post anything about any of this Marlo. I wasn't trying to say that you were involved in this in any way, and I don't think that I did say that at any point.

Its all good my friend, No harm, No foul, I know you didn't mean anything by it when my name was mentioned.. I was just making sure everybody knows I don't go around talkin shit about anybodies team. :D

I always want the Red Wings too win and I always wish everybody else's team goodluck as long as its not @ the expense of the Red Wings winning Lord Stanley's Cup.
:nanner:

canucks won. wasnt really going for either team. them winning was surprising. their 2 crumbles in round 1 has me wondering if that finally got them playing playoff hockey.

i normally go for ducks then whatever team takes them out. so round 2 will give more reason to route against the canucks.

canucks will hopefully get grinded out.

i dont know why they make boston and montreal back to back yet have others 2 days off.

detroit will come back rusty. but they have atleast 4 games to adjust.

And as for Montreal. Fuck them. Their entire history can be credited to the territorial bs that went on in the original 6 days. Once that shit stopped and other teams could draft those sic French canadians the habs have 2 cups in 25 years. Not so great when the everyone else has a fair chance.

I always say that to Habs fans who keep braging about the 24 cups. They only won those because of that stupid drafting rule back in the day. Also their last 2 cups where won by Patrick Roy with very average teams. Imagine if that "draft the best quebecois" rule stayed active untill today , they would have drafted players like Mario Lemieux , Martin Brodeur , Vincent Lecavalier etc.

Wow, well holy fuck... Its a damn good thing the Nucks won... That would have been one of the most colossal upsets in NHL and even sports history.. Now the 2nd round is set. Nucks/Preds and Red Wings/Sharks...

I think the extra rest for the Wings pays off, and the Sharks are soooo lucky to even still be in the Playoffs if wasn't for a total KINGS meltdown in game 3.. and now the EXHAUSTED Nucks get the confident very DEFENSIVE minded Predators in the 2nd round... the Nucks might not make it out of the 2nd round.. IMO... RED WINGS vs. PREDATORS in the WCF.. :2 cents:
Yes but #$@&ing Sharks match up well with the Wings. goon hockey comes into play. Add the Ref. bullshit and who knows. I predict a flat 1st period by the Wings. 2nd period of the 1st game will decied this series.

Ref's this year, the worst I have ever seen. No logic or rythm in their calls. Buttman influanced. Still remember scedule in 09. Only thing I love about this year, Crosby gets a taste of his own medicine.

Wings stood up for themselves in 1st round and f$^#ked with the yokes heads. Todd, time for the Gordie Howe hat Trick, Pavel, get another. Helm, you are a BEAST, keep it up.

Yeah, know its not your style but you are playing goons, and they only respect goon play. They are bigger, you are smarter.

You're proud because your team is going 7 games against a Pitt team without 2 of the top 5 players in the world? It's Pens fans who should be proud.

really? Tampa fans shouldn't be proud? after going 34-36-12 last year and missing the playoffs to going 46-25-11 this year and fighting back from a 3-1 series deficit to tie it up against a team with FAR more playoff experience? a team that still had a winning record even without Crosby and Malkin? yeah, clearly we have nothing to be proud of.

Good points, I think Detroit knows how the Sharks will play, and I also think if the sharks goon it up it favors the wings as long as they don't sustain any injuries, if the Sharks keep putting us on the PP and we make them pay, they may wise up, I think with Zetterberg coming back, and the fact that were pretty much healthy and rested, I think the Wings will prevail, and I think they don't mind starting on the road.

Besides the Sharks looked very shaky and confused against the Kings and our talented forwards and all around depth is far more superior too what the Kings have.. if the Red Wings lose this series its there own fault. Sharks are still tired and hopefully beat-up.. GO WINGS!! :D:nanner:

why they're the Toronto Maple Leafs and not Maple Leaves

Back on Valentine’s Day in 1927, the Toronto St. Pat’s hockey team was purchased by Canadian businessman Conn Smythe (for whom the NHL’s Most Valuable Player award is now named). Upon completion of the transaction, Smyth immediately renamed his new team the “Maple Leafs.” With this name change also came a switch from their traditional uniforms of green and white to team colors of blue and white.

But why the flagrant disregard for English grammar, you ask? Well, Smythe was a veteran of World War I, so naturally he named them after an army unit from the war, the ‘Maple Leaf Regiment’. Because ‘Maple Leaf’ is a proper noun, its plural is formed simply by adding an ‘s,’ not changing the ‘f’ to ‘v’ and adding ‘es’ as you would expect

I misread what you said again. My bad. All I will say here on the board is that I appreciate this reply and that I know I'm a smart-ass and that I can piss people off and I'm sorry for that, but everyone should just try not to take it personally. And I will try not to insult people's teams too much, but it's hard not to when I'm taking so much guff for my team's last-place finishes the last two seasons. It just makes me want to fire back about all the other teams because the Oilers truly are a one of the best franchises of all-time. And as for the Canucks, it wasn't anything you said that set me off, I have many friends here in Edmonton that are Canucks fans and they just aggravate me by rubbing it in with them winning the President's Trophy and the Oilers poor record, and it just seems like they only started caring about hockey in the last two years. The same thing happens with Flames fans. I hope this doesn't get you in trouble, but I felt like responding on the board.

Pretty cool snippet. Just to clarify, the Conn Smythe Trophy is the award for the playoff MVP.

So far I have correctly predicted the 6/8 of the teams that have made it to second round, even though the total number of games it took was not correct. The last two games today decide it all, I want the Lightning and Bruins to win.

I am stoked my Red Wings made it to the second round, but I am a little bit scared when they are facing the Sharks. The Sharks are a big, fast team with a lot of people that can score. Plus they have the last Stanley Cup winning goalie in net, against a goalie that is usually out of position and leaves too much space for the other team. I think it might be like last year with the Sharks winning the series against the Red Wings, only I don't think we will be swept like last year. On the other hand, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Lidstrom, Kronwall, Rafalski, and Howard all have to play brilliantly to make it to the next round. Also, McCellan was the assistant coach in Detroit, he already knows all of the plays and how Babcock thinks.

Goodbye Montreal. Lololol. Go start a riot or something.

Bring on the Sharks and Divin' Setoguchi. This ain't last year.

(It's all good, so long as we are talking about hockey and not each other's arguing)

Yeah, I know. Trust me, I have all the respect in the world for the Oilers and their cups, but I get annoyed myself by the majority Flames/Oilers fans where I live who consider the fact their teams have both won Cups to be the end-all in any discussion. I usually make a concious effort NOT to rub the Canucks (or Flyers, or Coyotes) in anyone's face because I am extremely superstitious about hockey (FACT: The Saskatoon Blades got swept in the WHL playoffs because I shaved and I didn't even know I had a playoff beard going for them) and I find when I brag about my team, they lose. Case in point, at the beginning of the Canucks/Blackhawks series I bet my neighbour a six-pack that the Canucks would win. I gloated after they went up 2-0 and 3-0, so look where that got the team. (But they did win, so I'll have some awesome refreshments tomorrow night)

Anyway, again apologies for my conduct. I hope you realize I'm trying to make my ribbing of the Oilers fun in-nature when I do it (if a Flames fan ever came on the board... Whew...).

But, back to hockey: Boston won, so it is going to be Philadelphia/Boston once again. This is going to be a great series, and honestly... I see Boston winning. The Flyers had some goalie troubles in the first round and when you compare it to Thomas I think the Bruins might be able to pull out a victory. But then again, that's what we all said last year with Rask...

Tampa's two minutes away from a victory here, but given the last couple of games, I would be shocked if the Penguins didn't tie it up with a minute left. :1orglaugh

Can you hear that sound? That's the entire NHL board of directors crying.

Chicago AND Pittsburgh out in the first round? Someone put Bettman on suicide watch.

I'm proud of myself. I was able to predict the 8 teams to advance to the Semi-finals. Now that the match-ups are all set in stone, who do you see winning each series:

West:

Vancouver Canucks Vs. Nashville Predators
Detroit Red Wings Vs. San Jose Sharks

East:

Washington Capitals Vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
Philadalphia Flyers Vs. Boston Bruins

I noticed that the #'s 1,2,3, and 5 seed made it from each conference. This has to be a first of some kind.

As much as I love my Pens...chalk me up as being one who wasn't shocked that they did not tie it up. I was surprised they lost 1-0....I kinda figured that they would get spanked tonight...but that they were not able to score in the final minute to tie...especially since they were on the power play at the time....not so much! Ha ha ha! I believe they ended up 0-25 on the power play at home and 1-35 overall for the series. As "surprising" as it sounds...that just doesn't usually tend to win you very many hockey games!

Ho hum! Guess the season is over for me....until the finals anyway! Ha ha ha! On the bright side, I decided not to grow a "playoff beard" this year....so, I don't have that agro to deal with! Ha ha ha! For the record, I'm one who prefers to be clean shaven! Ha ha ha!
