I don't think "smashmouth" football can ever really succeed in today's NFL. There is a reason the role of running backs has diminished so much or changed. Not only have the rules changed, but I don't think you could even get the right personal for smashmouth stuff and make it somewhat workable without sacrificing too much in other areas unless you have a bunch of historically good players at once that can do everything in all areas great, and if you had that you could win with almost any strategy anyhow.

It was doomed to fail as soon as coaching staffs finally realized that scoring a crapton of points made winning easier and scoring a lot of points required passing a lot.

In case anyone is wondering, the record for the worst single season decline in win total is held by the Houston Oilers (1993: 12-4; 1994: 2-14). Can this year's Carolina Panthers beat them? Let's watch.

I've seen a lot of Derek Anderson, and he's as fools gold-y as you could want in an NFL quarterback. Measurables of Tarzan, heart of Jane. He's 100% of the reason the Panthers lost last night. Such a truck. Once Cam's back though, I don't see them dropping more than 7. That's awfully high, in my opinion, but the slaughter they're waging on their own roster factors in. Benwikere sends his best from South Beach, btw.

As on point as Atlanta's offense is, that defense. They're swarming all over the place and putting a stop to shit.

Go Falcons. Another great matchup this week against the Hawks.

I think my Vikes have been ranked as low as 8th in the power rankings this week (after 5-0 start)...I don't know what to say about that. I'd put us more around the Final Four mark at this point...

I think we could get to the Final Four (NFC CG) and win it with a defense like ours, then get to the SB and who knows...OTOH, we're the Vikings, so all bets are off until that day.

They were my pick to win the north, before Bridgewater got hurt. I expected AP to have a short season (called it), and for McKinnon to emerge. When Teddy went down, I thought my prediction was blown up - I didn't see Bradford coming in and gelling as well as he has. It feels like the clock is ticking on his next injury though.

How about those Dolphins. Man they sure took it to the Steelers. LOL

Just when I was about to loose all hope Da Fins pulled off a good one for once. Prolly be the highlight of their season sadly.

Damn this is a tough season to be a Panthers fan.

not exactly going out on a limb here, but Tom Brady is the greatest QB of all time. To have played at this level, for so long, I don't see his skills diminishing at all and he's on the cusp of 40-year-old. That's insane. That strike he threw to Gronk in the endzone was like an inch off the ground, exactly where it needed to be and it came in smoking.

GOAT!

It's hard to say how he will age. He's at a point where athletes can almost age overnight, and many of them at that point have. I have nothing against Brady though and hope he will pull off a good handful of more years. I also wouldn't want unrealistic expectations to be put on him, and would in no way hold it against him if he suddenly fell off. It seems the athletes that can hold on that long are either near unparalleled physical freaks, or athletes that are good mostly for their brain as much as their physical skills.
