Josh needs more than one stellar year before he can start shaking down the Panthers. Let him shop his services around, if he gets a team to pay him what he wants and the Panthers won't match it, good on him and I wish him the best.

I bet Gettleman has a solid corner free agent in the pipeline that is willing to sign for a lot less money than what Norman will accept. I think the Giants or Cowboys would sign him. I didn't really like some of his antics to be honest.

I'd hate to see him go but I do have faith in Gettleman.

Didn't know this but the Panthers signed Brandon Boykin back on March 28th.

And he is why Josh is gone. Boykin really turned it on for the Steelers late in the season.

He is a top 10 corner. We'll be fine.

Gettleman says he is focusing on the D-line in the draft and will probably draft another corner or safety too.

In Dave we trust.

Just compared Boykin's career stats to Norman's.

They both entered the league in 2012.
Norman has 30 or so more tackles than Boykin but Boykin has 2 sacks, Norman has none.

I think Boykin has 1 career pick 6 and Norman has 2.

The other stats, deflections and so on, they are about even.

$50 million guaranteed. Based on basically one season. Hats off to him.

I have just become aware that, in fact, only 36.5 million of the contract is guaranteed. The 50 million figure was reported due to how the contract is structured (51 million over the first three years of a 5 year contract). The way cap hits are handled if a player is released means that releasing Josh Norman prior to the end of the third year of the contract would saddle Washington with too much "dead money" for most teams to even consider. So, while not technically guaranteed, he will likely be getting at least 51 million out of this deal. I regret the error.

And the draft starts on Thursday.

The Redskins might be pretty good next year and are my pick to win the NFC East. The Cowboys will be there I guess but you know Romo will get hurt at some point and then it's over for them. The Skins are striking while the iron is hot and Norman will help them tremendously.

Cousins should have a good year.

I think they return to the playoffs no matter how they draft.

Since Cutler sucks and I kind of hate the city of Chicago now I am thinking of rooting for the Vikings. They picked my new favorite player, Moritz Boehringer and if he makes it through the training camp I guarantee Disney will turn his story into a movie. Plus I'd get to wear purple. But not a jersey. I stopped wearing jerseys when I finished playing college football.

Rooting for the Seahawks is like rooting for ze Super AIDS.

Happy Birthday to Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. 27 years old today. I miss football.
