NFL '11 Season Thread

Oakland ain't a candidate son. We scored over 400 points last year. McFadden and Bush are the best RB tandem in the league. Campbell really improved as the season progressed. This despite a clueless coach, who has since been replaced by an offensive guy. Our problem is red zone offense.

They lost one of their best O-linemen and their best pass catcher. I wasn't talking about last season, SON.

Boy I love Tebow..the guy deserves a spot on a roster.

By what measurement? Tebow doesn't have the skill sets to be an NFL QB. If he can't make the roster, then so be it. He won't be the first #1 draft choice to not work out. I could still see him playing another position however. He's definitely got the intangibles to make an impression but as a QB? I don't think so.

And please don't trade him to the Rams. Bradford needs to take every snap.

Barring injury, I don't think anybody will be taking Bradford's snaps for the next 12 years.

Tebow is alright, but I agree overall. The sportsters seem to blame McDaniels. But where were Bowlen and Elway and Xanders for all of this??

great preseason game by the giants over the bears tonight. big loss however as they lose their starting cornerback terrell thomas for the year.

Did the Raiders draft Terrelle Pryor too early in the Supplemental draft? I heard he was going in the fifth or sixth round all along.

thats the magic of Drew Rosenhouse. he can get anyone drafted higher than they should be, get anyone more money than they deserve...........he also burns alot of bridges with GM's in the process, so his influence only goes so far

Two reasons the Raiders did this. Pryor ran a 4.38 40 Al Davis always overdrafts speed. second the Raiders do not have a young QB to develop after the JaMarcus disaster so he actually fills a need

4.38? That is insane for a QB! Hell, that' insane for any position really.

They also did it because they don't have a 4th round pick..

I love the fact that the Broncos are stupid enough to consider cutting the one guy on the team who makes them money. Nobody sells more jerseys, and people actually go to the stadium to see him. A lot of folks keep talking about how he can't be a QB, which he has heard since HS, but time and time again has proven that he can lead a team to wins from that position. How?

Does it matter?

He makes it happen running. He makes it happen throwing. He makes it happen. Nobody yet has given a good reason to count him out based on his personal history. The only thing you get is people saying that he just doesn't get it, he's just a tough runner, his mechanics are bad, he's inaccurate... but I heard the exact same things said about another player in the 80's...

Steve Young.

Steve never lit it up in practice or preseason. His mechanics were not good and seemed to be a one trick pony improvisor, but like Tebow, he made it happen. Not all at once. There were a few growing pains, but when game time rolled around, he was all about putting the team in winning situations. How a 4-12 team gets the nerve to not give the fans the chance to see the QB they want to see, win or lose, is beyond me. It's hilarious because this could never happen in other sports. Could you imagine the Clippers not giving Blake Griffin a shot?

Um. Steve Young played for a Hall of Fame coach and a roster full of HOF talent. That probably had something to do with his development...

Merrill Hoge is correct about the NFL 95% of the time. Tebow is a pathetic NFL QB and Cam Newton isn't much better. Neither will ever make it as a starter.

Tebow should run the Broncos version of the Wildcat -- because he can also mix in a playaction throw to a TE or WR out of the wildcat -- but other than that -- he should be riding the bench for a looooong time.

Tebow is a prime example of why I could give two pigeon shits about NCAA football. The guy wins a national title, secures the Heisman (greatest player in college football) and then gets to the "big leagues" only for it to play out like this. This has happened to countless other Heisman alum as well.

Pryor was a good college quarterback but I don't think that would make him a good one in the nfl. I think at some point he will have to transition to a tight end, wide receiver and not make it in this league.

I heard Asante Samuels is on the market. Which team will trade for him?

Tebow and Florida's NCAA success has no correlation on NFL success. The two sports are completely different on every level. College fball is, I think, a *purer* form of football. The NFL is a bit too micro-managed.

It's not that Tebow's apparent "bust" status is any surprise -- it's that he's able to make so much money for doing nothing where that money would be better spent by the Broncos on paying their Vets or signing FAs....

They're not going to cut him this season, but I bet he's traded or cut after this season.
