I love the fact that the Broncos are stupid enough to consider cutting the one guy on the team who makes them money. Nobody sells more jerseys, and people actually go to the stadium to see him. A lot of folks keep talking about how he can't be a QB, which he has heard since HS, but time and time again has proven that he can lead a team to wins from that position. How?
Does it matter?
He makes it happen running. He makes it happen throwing. He makes it happen. Nobody yet has given a good reason to count him out based on his personal history. The only thing you get is people saying that he just doesn't get it, he's just a tough runner, his mechanics are bad, he's inaccurate... but I heard the exact same things said about another player in the 80's...
Steve Young.
Steve never lit it up in practice or preseason. His mechanics were not good and seemed to be a one trick pony improvisor, but like Tebow, he made it happen. Not all at once. There were a few growing pains, but when game time rolled around, he was all about putting the team in winning situations. How a 4-12 team gets the nerve to not give the fans the chance to see the QB they want to see, win or lose, is beyond me. It's hilarious because this could never happen in other sports. Could you imagine the Clippers not giving Blake Griffin a shot?
