Drunk drivers walk away unhurt because they are more protected in the driver's seat. The same applies to train drivers. Why do wonderful pastors lose their family members? Why do good Christian folk get raped the moment they step through the door after returning home from Church? Why did Haralan Popov stand in a corner for 13 years, persecuted by Bulgarian Communists?

This does not mean, nor does it prove there is no God.
Jesus was the Son of God. Look what happened to Him. Did he stop believing? No. One day the Jews were shouting "Hosanna, Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord."
The very next day they were yelling "Crucify Him!"
I know it is difficult to believe. It always has been. There is an enormous Universe out there with life that started chemically.
Maybe there is God. Maybe there is not. We wrestle with this because, I believe, there is a spark of the divine in all of us. "The fool has said in his heart there is no God."
Whatever the matter is - it is accepted as a matter of faith. It is also by Divine Revelation that one acknowledges the Divine One.
One cannot believe unless one asks in faith. "Unless you are as a little child you cannot see the kingdom of heaven." You will never, ever, believe, accept, reason your way into life eternal.
Whether there is another planet earth or a Jupiter or a star made of blue cheese somewhere in the Universe is not relevant to an understanding of God's will. What is His will? That you love one another as you love yourself.
So we blame God for everything. It would be easier to say, you know what? I repent. I believe. Let's worship God and put away our weapons of war. Let us use this little time we have on this infinitesimally small ball of earth and water, with huge resources for every living being, and lets enjoy our frelling life FOR ONCE and let everyone else enjoy their FRELLING life for once. for crying out aloud.
But noooooo.
As for the drunk driver and the little children. People are not given burdens they cannot handle. I refuse to believe God would abandon the parent in his/her time of grief. The parent may turn against God, but the Hound of Heaven will try over and over to reach and to comfort that person in their terrible loss.
I am not going to stop believeing in God Almighty - I hope and pray - just because some geezer scribbles down a few moments of thought in a library one day.
For f*+!%ks sake people, philosophers have written ideas down over the centuries. It is either for everyone to nod their heads in assent, or to examine what is written and throw it out as bunkum or at least think it sounded reasonable then.
The Bible tells there will be a huge falling away in these times. It talks of climate change. Of it being so hot people will gnaw at their own skin, while cursing God.
Is it God's fault now?
