Well...my vampire bit the dust. Literally. Final death by a huge ass steel axe that has a flame thrower on the end.

Then the other PCs made a deal with the devil...I mean a true fae...and brought her back from the dead.

Now she's even more fucked up.

On the flips side, I pulled one over my players on Monday. A few weeks ago they fucked up and did a little bit of time travelling. From 203BC Athens to 2011 Seattle. Oops...guess they should have followed the fae's directions. o_O

Anyways, the prince of the city got them off the streets and was going to fuck with them (he's a sadist) and they escaped...with their "hostess" whom they found out was the prince's child. Oops.

They had a run in with some hunters and ran.

Then one of them saw something and ran off on his own and got captured by the opposing faction to the prince. Double oops...especially since the other 4 decided to keep going without him.

So the next game ought to be interesting. My prediction? Someone (or multiple someone's) will die.

Leave it to my players to screw themselves over.

It could have been worse. They could have popped up in modern day New Jersey. :1orglaugh

vampire sounds really really interesting. i got the core book i just havent looked through it yet.

my girls character almost kicked the bucket last night. she was in an explosion after a boss battle which left her with 8hp left.

Dunno. The DM is going to make his ruling on what flaws she's getting for being brought back, hopefully today.

I know I lost about 5 flaws that I created her with but it'll be interesting to see what she comes back with. Especially since she's now in the thick of Chicago kindred politics.

You've no idea. Evidently I have this particularly evil laugh whenever things are about to become bad for them. Sometimes I just give the laugh to fuck with them.

And then there was the red pen incident...

I drew out a map for the guys in their Necessary Evil game (where they're the villains). They were invading "Mad Toymaker Mike's" house, which incidently was converted into a big funhouse. There wasn't anything lethal, but because I drew stuff in red pen they somehow associated this with bad things.

From there on out, whenever I draw in red...they avoid it like the plauge and claim I'm out to get them. o_O I'd NEVER draw in red just to fuck with their heads. I'm just not that kind of person, I swear.

Always fun when I can convert any game into a game of Paranoia.

hehe, yeah. i got my players scared of all rugs and carpets now. i only made em fall into em once before but i guess its enough for them to make sure they dont even step on any carpet that i draw.

granted, the time they did fall into an under-the-carpet trap it was into a huge spider den where they confronted half eaten zombies, disease ridden rats, and a giant black spider boss my sister made out of bake clay. mind you, they both hate spiders. it was my finest DM game that day.

i know i have a picture around here somewhere..

Another fun thing you can do with rugs it to make them animated by magic or haunted and wrap up or grapple people that step on it. (Somewhere in my library of books there might even be a few specific monsters or encounters that do just that, and I think a few systems have specific rules you can use for haunted things also.) Of course now that they are paranoid of them perhaps you would have to do it with drapes, banners, large flags, or something else similar they are not expecting it to come from.

ha! good idea! im so inspired now. if i can get them to stand near a damn rug again, id be set. or.... to really freak em out, ill make a room that's made entirely out of carpet!

If you have ever played Ultima, you know the floor is about the hardest enemy you can find outside the grass.

In the next month or two I'm debating weather to buy the 3rd Edition Mutant & Masterminds Hero's handbook, or the Pathfinder Ultimate Magic book. I will only have enough money for one if that. :(:1orglaugh (sigh)

Im pretty excited about the new Pathfinders fighter classes. Ive already built a couple samurai amd ninjas based off the free samples from Paizo.

I still need to try a game of Pathfinders. Been meaning to the last 2 years at the con I go to, but I get wrapped up in other things.

ive heard of pathfinders but never seen it before.

Go to their Website Paizo.com. That will have the stuff.

Frankly I am disapointed in a lot of PRPG's stuff outside the core rules. The Added classes have balance issues. The new weapons are just hair pulling. Someone clearly has never heard of a temple sword. That refers to a Jian not a Hook Sword, which is what their weapon clearly is.

Though I really like the Advanced Player's Handbook's water spells. Finally something more than Hold Person that can be used to subdue someone.

The Ninja and the Samurai class drive me insane. Just something about Magic Samurai and magic Ninja.

They do make some of the best adventure paths though.

Although I'm less bothered by most of the things you listed myself. :dunno: The summoner class might be the one thing I see minor issues with, but nothing that upsets me. Everything else you listed is just more or less how ones like the matter of fluff they added to things and is more easily changeable in ones games. I think I read somewhere where the designers weren't going for any super accurate historical accuracy with the things like the ninja and were going more with a fantasy world, movies, fictional portrayal of them. Personally that would be my choice also. If anything my biggest issue with them is the fact they are going to be dependent on multiple good ability scores for all their features. I'm not as caught up on the samurai though and what it is going to do. I could also point out that the final releases of those characters aren't out yet and changes could still be made.

As far as balance issues go wasn't it you in an earlier part of this thread that thought that all healing spells should actually have range to them?
