dungeons and dragons (D&D) anyone?

For me as long as the old tried and true dice mechanics work it's not so much of a big deal to me. I think some systems try and reinvent the wheel just to be different instead of there being a great need for the change on the other hand. As long as the mechanics of the dice work with the mechanics of the rules that's the most important thing. I find the later more important. Still it irks me a little when I would have to do something like buy a bunch of funky dice. It also seems somewhat like a gimmick to be a little brutal even if it's one that can work.

I took that result, and told him his shot hit a small snow bank and missed the intended target but it triggered the dud grenade, detonating it for 10 damage!

Moral of the story, with enough time there is no such thing as a true dud in a movie or any other form of entertainment for that matter. One way or another they all go off sooner or later. If only the imperial officer had known that. :yesyes:

Same here. Great game. Very addictive.
Havn't played Neverwinter since Neverwinter Nights on PC back in 2000s.
Glad to see it on consoles(F2P) and works perfectly with a controller.

I have all sorts of D&D material based on Neverwinter in books. In fact, I also play in a Neverwinter campaign ;)

I read the books by Gibson, and our rpg group dabbled into several various games, one was "Fading Suns" which is the game the whole "Stargate" franchise was based on, though no lawyer of the company who used the game story will admit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fading_Suns

Like in the movie and the (various) series, every accessible world could have a totally different msetting, ecosystem, timeframe, you name it. This added the possibilityto incorporate several backgrounds into one adventure, nad cyberpunk ones were among them.

By the way: I developed a female space pilot /secret spaceagency agent by the name of Nikki Nova, which was unknown for my friends for several years, until they got internet access, too. That made me chuckle a lot during game sessions

Shadowrun has been my favorite cyberpunk setting if I had to choose one. Usually cyberpunk is one of those things that's best homebrewed using a good generic system as it's base. Maybe that's because there isn't as much well known setting for it like there are with fantasy, and there is a lot of directions people can go in without having to conform to stereotypical norms for a genre.

I will also be interested in CD Projekt's new cyberpunk thing they have going on after they get done with their Witcher stuff.

Just started reading Neuromancer. The first fucking sentence had me.

And yeah, the Cyberpunk 2077 looks smashing. Although the trailer, though impressive as fuck, explained nothing as to if it was a console or PC game, or video game at all. However, it's got me looking into the Cyberpunk 2020 rpg. The whole 80's feel to it would also be fun and entirely different than a Shadowrun or Interface Zero world.

Been a while since anyone put anything here, but hopefully someone will read this and be able to help.

Does anyone know where I could get a copy of the latest Star Trek character generation rules?

I'm not looking for hard copy. I'd just like to get a hold of the latest rules, I only have the original ones and I know they have been amended at least once.

Thanks in advance.

What's the system? I know my friend ran a Star Trek using Savage Worlds before.

The FASA RPG system.

The couple of links from Supadupafly are useful. On having a quick look at them, it's looking like something I can download onto my PC will work better. A PDF version of the rule books or something very similar.

A lot of good information out there, but like most things online a lot means pages and pages and pages of stuff on lots of different websites, with a lot of different slants on it.

Maybe my reason for looking might give anyone reading a better idea.
A long time ago in a college far far away:
A shy, geeky software engineering student managed to talk his lecturers into letting him create a character generator program as his final project.
It was never completed, but the idea has stuck since then and right now I need something to stop my brain turning to mush, so I thought about that.
I have just spotted some other people online doing the same thing, but I am still intending to try and build one myself.

I'd love to see it if you ever finish it! I'm not familiar with FASA. I'm gonna look it up.

Basic Dungeons and Dragons was my first real roleplaying experience. As a younger teen I ended up liking the Basic over Advanced, but eventually swapped over in my later teens. Not from a lack of desire, I haven't played table top games since my mid twenties. I'm in my early forties now and it's just becoming rarer to find interest. The last real roleplaying game I played was the Masquerade, where we had about thirty of us that would go to a large ranch outside of Vegas once a month. Good times.

These days, I'm still kind of playing, but it's through the computer now. The Baldur's Gate series is a personal favorite, as well as Neverwinter Nights.
