Silva has been a stand up guy and has not dodged any challenge and has, in fact, sought bigger challenges. Who are you to question whether or not he has a rib injury?

He exploited a weakness and used it to secure a victory. Sonnen had exploited Silva's lack of takedown defense for 23 minutes...the difference being that he could not finish Silva and Silva only needed one opportunity to finish the fight. Who is the better fighter, I ask you?

To say that exploiting a known weakness is "lucky" is ridiculous. By that logic, every fighter who has ever won a fight got "lucky". You disrespect the fighters and the training that they go through by making stupid comments like that.

Please set aside some time for yourself to learn about this sport. You clearly have no clue.

db/27 the problem I have with what you are saying is..you're telling us that one guy has a bad defense to a technique but him getting submitted by the same submission technique as numerous times before by and excellent submission fighter was "all luck". To me that's like calling it luck when a guy who drops his left, has a glass jaw who then gets knocked out by guy with a good overhand right..

I mean if you know all this scouting the fight does it really matter at what point in the fight it happens?

I don't buy the rope a dope theory but to me when a fighter executes a great move against a known weakness in his opponent fair and square which causes him to win...to me there are no excuses...he won fair and square. I doesn't really matter what he was doing up to that point..unless it's a story he wants to tell his grand kids.

Sonnen was submitted by triangle choke again. Doesn't matter IMO if he dominated the first 2 rounds and it happened in the 3rd. Or at the end of dominating the 1st..or after dominating 4 rounds...none of that really matters IMO. That it happened later may just be reflective of Sonnen improving his counter defense to it but nonetheless he was still a victim of it again.

Well I don't think Silva has to make an excuse since he won. In a championship bout you have 5 rounds to outscore, knockout, submit or render defenseless your opponent. Only one of those methods of winning takes a full 5 rounds to do...Sonnen was outscoring Silva but he didn't make it the full five rounds...Silva successfully passed his defense and executed 2 submission moves...case close IMO.

On topic...Randy was able to negate Vitor's punching abilities when they last fought and the same as well against Chuck's knockout power in their 1st fight. The Natural has the MMA experience and a strong chance against trash-talking Toney in his 1st UFC match. :fight:
