I watched UFC 116 last night and again on the reply tonite. The pounding Brock took was insane and then to survive that and make Carwin tap out with the triangle....damn.

Whatever anyone thinks of Lesnar, there is no doubting his heart. His story of coming back from life threatening health problems to win is like something out of Rocky, yet fans still boo him.

Cain Velasquez's already shown (in the Cheick Kongo fight) that his chin isn't great. So yeah, if Carwin couldn't KO/TKO Brock, then Cain sure'll find it tougher.

By the way, I think if Fedor and Werdum fought 50 times, Fedor would win 49 of them. Just coz Werdum triangled Fedor doesn't put him anywhere near Top 3.

I think a lot of UFC fans never saw Brock wrestle, so they believe all this interview stuff and cocky talk. They don't realise most, if not all of it, is put on. Brock knows how to hype his fights, he had a good teacher. :D

Yep, he finally got a beating and proved he could take it. And I agree with others here, the next fight will probably be nowhere near as tough. :wave2:

Fedor needs to swallow some PRIDE (pun intended) and move over to the UFC. This would be a great PPV at the end of the year. Lesnar and Fedor for all the marbles. And I bet Fedor doesn't make it past the second round

^he still wants to compete in his sambo competitions which ufc won't allow...ufc is greedy with it's fighters :D i have a feeling fedor may do it when he feels like retiring so he can get one last big paycheck

I agree as well for a Lesnar vs Fedor for all the marbles. Despite the loss, MMAfighting still considers Fedor as one of the greats for all his past achievements and accomplishments. Lesnar is heading towards there but the majority of the fight fans still remembers his WWE antics. As for the holdup migrating to the UFC...according to Wiki and MMA fighting, there's glitches on both sides...Fedor and MM1 Global wants a piece of the UFC action or a share in its profiits while the UFC are too restrictive and wants Fedor to fight only in the UFC.

Brock has definitely got talent. I was just wondering if the outcome would have been different if he did not get any help from a former HW & LHW UFC champion and Hall of Famer, Randy Couture during his training. I also thought that Carwin got a bit tired too but then he should have been more prepared for it as it was a championship match. Carwin's previous fights have never gone past the 1st rounds as stated in the UFC ads and as well as Dana. Maybe a rematch is in order for Carwin to get another shot at Brock.

I'm hoping for a rematch. Carwin looked great until that initial flurry of ground and pound and after that he was just looking tired. Totally gassed and then he got caught with that triangle. I would love to see another match between the two of them. After all, fairs fair; they let Lesnar have another shot at Mir after he got caught with that ankle or knee lock.

Bones Jones is too fucking good eventhough they're giving him low end competition. Gomi seems comfortable with the cage now and looked great. Can't wait for Sonnen and Silva.

not true

Silva barely survived tonight.

Still survived and like Leben you gotta either finish the fight or make god damn sure you are going to win while avoiding any mistakes. Especially against the p4p best MW fighter. I was sweating bullets but Silva was always in the fight and just waiting for the mistake that Chael would surelly make. Great fight along with JDS vs Roy and Struve surprised the hell outta me.

he's done with sambo and judo competitions? or the ufc changed their rules on it?

yes, they changed their rules on one of his contract that Dana put out before he joined SF it was Fedor and his manager m-1 global the ones that were being greedy and they still are. fedor and m-1 global wanted half of the profit in all his fight and dana was like "fuck it, hell no" you get what i pay you, fool.

SF bowed down to his demand and M-1 global and Fedor are partners with them. he earns half of the profit in all his fights.

Though it looked like Sonnen wanted to tap, and did once, I was shocked the ref stopped it as quickly as he did. Usually it takes a couple of taps. Silva - St. Pierre is probably the new year's Eve PPV, but I would love to see Sonnen - Silva II, to see if Silva can beat him again.

Last night, I couldn't get "rope-a-dope" out of my head. Looked like Silva was taking an beating, but would land good shots in when he could. Then, when given the chance, put Sonnen in a submission hold and got it.

Can't believe he pulled it off, but that's what makes champions. OT goal in hockey, Buzzer beater in Basketball, and a submission victory in MMA. Best upset in MMA history.
