Anthony Bourdain Commits Suicide

once again you are being dense Bob. when you have depression it consumes you. You can't rationalize the way you are expecting others to do just because YOU don't have depression. Again, depression isn't the same as being depressed. You can't think of your kids or your money or your fans, you can only think of making the pain stop. Stop seeing it from your point of view and know that there are people wired differently than you, therefore YOU can't fucking understand something beyond your own existence. The guy gave a ton to charity, brought awareness to issues like Laos and others, worked the last 15 years to bring tolerance and understanding to people that most (especially in the US) never understood or had preconceived notions, loved his daughter and his work, so if you stop being a dotard for 3 seconds you'll see that obviously this wasn't a case of the selfish blues. It is mental illness. In February 2016 my brother decided that 18 months clean from heroin meant he could do it again. The relapse dose killed him on the spot. He knew the risks and knew if he died my mom would find his body and it would destroy her, which it has done. He wasn't thinking of those things, or his new job he had worked so hard to get and was starting in 2 weeks and taking him to India and China. He thought of none of it even though he was a very thoughtful person who would never do something so horrible if he were capable of thinking of that stuff.

Stop seeing the world only from your perspective. That was one of the beautiful things that Bourdain tried to show his viewers. There are many ways of life other than your own.

I did think that episode of Archer with him in it was funny.

Now I want to understand, myself....what was it like to feel what he felt. Did he feel paralyzed? Compelled? Like not in control of himself and his thoughts? I think it is something we need to get to the root of if we are to save people from doing what he did.

you're wasting you're time with this fucking idiot. You couldn't have spelled it out to him any clearer in your previous post.

because that is an apt comparison.

you really are fucking stupid. my shit-honest assessment.

you are the absolute turd of this board.

Almost as apt as you comparing this shithead's suicide to a more personal connection with say, someone's father or stepfather? What's up your twat lately? I haven't attacked anyone personally....yet.

So you opponents to my views are telling me that you see things through his eyes? Tell me that any of you are on the verge of suicide and I will do what I can to help you stay alive another day (alright, maybe another 15 minutes, still). I'm just a person and there are other persons that can get you through another day. You have more persons than me and Anthony B. probably have had more persons than you.

And what are these dark demons that transpose so much as to justify suicide. I don't see them, do any of you? Tell us about them so that we can avoid suicide. That thing, those things. The Boogey Man is not real. Space aliens and Illuminati and religion is not real. What makes those reasons to make people that have any closeness to someone real and justifiable to have them suffer as you?

I have never been associated (with my knowledge) with anyone that had committed suicide. If it ever happens, I would resent them till my death. How about any of you? A person that you have a bond with or have some sort of closeness. You want to keep these people in your life and hope to see them another day. Nothing of your fault to say otherwise. Memories of some sort of shared good for even a brief moment. When they decide to end their life, they are saying fuck you to having another moment with you. They have no desire to share one more memory with you. No, better yet, they decided to rob you of future good times and memories.

As of my post, I am watching Anthony B. eating a variety of seafood in Portugal. How demanding of his time.

I'll swap my life with his. Who kills himself sooner? You lay a wreath, the rest of us will piss on his grave.

well bob that 44 minute episode probably took 2 weeks of 16 hour days to film staying in a hotel away from home might not be digging ditches but its exhausting and lonely.

And yes Bob, I do know 3 people who have committed suicide. You are being ignorant. If it were as simple as you claim it wouldn't be happening. I can't argue with ignorant. I'm sorry, I gave it my best but you refuse to comprehend that mental illness is something beyond rational as you claim.

Bob must really enjoy being talked down to as if he is a toddler. That seriously borders on mansplaining.

Haha, Jesus guys. Reminds me something Mark Twain said. Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.

You're just mad because you haven't been mentioned in this thread. Ugh. So egotistical you are, Adam.

Very true that I am ignorant having never personally known someone that committed suicide. You know 3.

With your experience, how many have come to you with suicidal thoughts and didn't do such an act? Any? If so the case, how did you get them through their crises?
