I really like that senate MINORITY leader mcconnell will get to spend at least the next 2 years voting on all the bills he blocked, and hopefully watching a lot of them pass. I'm sure it will hurt him greatly watching helplessly as the gears of America slowly begin to turn again and people start getting the government they deserve.
And I have to say congrats to the dems. I didn't have a lot of faith that they could get it together, but they took back both chambers of congress and the presidency in a system that is stacked heavily in favor of republicans. I really hope they can balance things back out, because under a FAIR system it's unlikely the USA will ever see republican control again.

In 4 years, most republicans will pretend that Trump and his corruption never happened, they will have new faces peddling their BS ideology, and they will once again falsely project their corrupt ways onto democrats. The Trumptistas will be absorbed into the Party and hold a fringe position similarly to the TEA Partiers.
Trump also loves them and thinks they are special.
...but remember a black football player that kneeled at a football game was too much and a disgrace to the nation to those people.
Also remember back when the BLM movement was in Washington DC and they had the freaking National Guard ready and waiting for them all camouflaged out and everything. Or how about that time when Trump literally gassed protesters so he would have a photo op in front of a church. Yet look how lenient these people are being treated in comparison for storming the capital building. If that doesn't show a double standard I don't know what does.

13 arrests last I heard. Heard one reporter say that security today was barely a fraction of what they had during the BLM protests. Another described the law enforcement response as barely more than a shrug.
How do we all think it would have gone down if it had been BLM trying to storm the capitol building? It's fine for these right wingers to crash congress because democracy didn't work out for them, but if those negroes get uppity because the cops stomp one too many necks you better believe it's clobbering time!
Chris Hayes makes a good point (he usually does) about the obscenity of congress resuming as though nothing happened after the biggest threat to US sovereignty since the civil war, at the hands of the president.

Interesting that you brought this up. Donald Trump has called himself the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln. But that's where the comparison ends. Abraham Lincoln main concern was to keep and preserve the Union. That made him a great president. Donald Trump main concern is to cause a break and sedition in the Union so severe through contempt and derision. This makes him one of worst presidents in history. If not the worst one ever.
That's why what The Lincoln Project is doing and saying in advertisements and in rhetoric is so important.

Ilhan Omar is already working on articles of impeachment. And there are rumors circulating that the cabinet is discussing the 25th.
They need to prosecute trump, every magat who set foot in the building, and every cop who was complicit, and there are several. Every BLM protester who was teargassed, kidnapped, and beaten this year saw what happened today. If Biden kicks off his presidency by giving these traitors a pass he'll immediately lose the trust of every one of them and a whole lot more beside.

It's going to depend on the next 4 years. Biden has some heavy expectations, and if he doesn't deliver, the disillusioned will shift over again.With control of both houses (for at least 2 yrs), he's not going to have an excuse if things don't drastically change for the better.
The presidency race wasn't the blowout that everyone expected, and the senate divide is literally as close as it could possibly get. There could also be a great GOP candidate (anyone is going to look better after this) who could appeal to moderates or a whole bunch of other scenarios which could lead control changing in 4 or 8 years.
