How is it free if it's paid for by your taxes???? By that dumb ass logic the military has free tanks and planes. How do you think Medicare and Social security is paid for? By your taxes. They take $ out of your paycheck every week. By that reasoning aren't you paying for everyone's healthcare??? Knowing a lot of veterans, I know very few who cheer at having to deal with the VA or a VA hospital. And on my mother's behalf, I have to deal with Social Services or Social Security at least half a dozen times a year. And that's not something that I ever look forward to. So while I'm no fan of private insurance companies, I'm even less a fan of government bureaucracies. With private insurance or publicly traded companies that offer insurance, you certainly do have the greed factor to deal with. But with government bureaucracies, you have waste, fraud and abuse. They're both bad situations and a pain in the ass to deal with.
So as I've been saying for years on here, I'm not happy about the health insurance situation in the U.S. But the old joke is, if someone from the government shows up at your door and says that they're there to help... run!!!
Whether it's college tuition or medical services, one side of the equation that never seems to be addressed is the cost side. Why does a two year stint at a good community or junior college cost so much less than two years at a four year (even public) university? You're going to get the same core classes at either in the first two years. Why does an MRI at one hospital cost twice as much as an MRI at another? Same GE machines at both. They both likely paid the same or similar amounts for the equipment. Hell, it may be the same tech in Australia reading the results for both hospitals. Why the massive cost disparity? So yeah... blindly writing taxpayer checks, just so that the patient doesn't have to worry about being gouged isn't the answer either. Without chasing off more doctors, especially in areas where there are already shortages, the cost side has to be looked at too. Otherwise the taxpayers will just be forking out more and more for medical versions of the $500 hammers that the military was caught buying years ago.
So far, I haven't seen that the math is going to work with some of these grand proposals. While their hearts *might be* in the right place, I'm not sure about their heads. So, like I said, put me in the show me camp. Let's see the numbers. And let's see how believable and realistic the projections and assumptions are. Same as with anything else, politicians of all stripes tend to tell people what they want to hear just to get the votes.

True. They're in it to make a profit. But in doing so, they have some cost control systems in place... some of which admittedly get in the way of patient care. I've just found that people tend to do a better job of maintaining a system (whatever it is) when they have some skin in the game. But first, we have to have a better or "reformed" system. That's just my opinion. We'll see what happens. But I hope that we don't end up with something even worse than the mess that we have now - and that's possible too.
I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep the employer based plan that I have now. I'm quite happy with the group rate and coverage that I have now. But I can't keep it once I leave this employer. I won't be anywhere near Medicare age when I retire from full-time employment in the next few years. So I'm investigating some health care sharing ministries. You can get coverages that are like lower premium/higher deductible or higher premium/lower deductible policies (for much less than what the private insurers charge). They're not driven by profits, nor are they bound by PC government mandates that contribute to higher premiums in the private and public market place. If you're not paying for some CEO to have two private jets, dopers and alcoholics to have a 26 week stay at Malibu Rehab or Candy the Stripper to have free birth control... insurance costs can be magically affordable. Who'd a thunk it?

I just caught a little bit of a local News clip whereby that shit stain Julian Castro, who today was going to go exploit "The Children" at the Clint, TX Border Patrol Center under fire by the Democrats ... was DENIED entry into the facility! POW! Right in the kisser! Suck dick and go back home you loser! He was going to obviously try and milk the situation there to try and benefit his presidential campaign and instead crashed and burned.
Tomorrow Sunday at 10:00AM, that Sewer Overflow O'Rourke is supposed to hold a rally in front of that same Border Patrol Center. Again, transparently obviously to try and benefit his presidential campaign, not that he really gives a fuck about those rented children. Hopefully O'Rourke is also denied entry into the facility. Then again, that one I've only seen it advertised as a "Rally," not a tour of the facility. So he might not even attempt to walk his hit & running criminal ass into the facility.
Then on Monday, a herd of Democrats is supposed to "tour" the facility, then discuss their findings ... then discuss Trump's policies. What fucking discussion, you ass wipes? We all already know ahead of time what you maggots are going to say. Sheesh!

In the late 1900s there was no federal income tax and shit still got done. People wound up paying about two to three weeks wages in taxes overall. A couple years before WWI the US started collecting federal income tax. Now, between the federal and local taxes, I'm at about 40%, which is more than three months worth of my income. because I'm one of those lucky few who doesn't get a refund. The bottom 47% doesn't really pay in, either. As a matter of fact they are taking in more with this "Free shit" mentality than they actually pay into the system.
But these assholes running for President are putting forth ideas that are unfunded liabilities. We have about 200 TRILLION dollars in unfunded liabilities right now. That number was significantly lower before W and Bohama fucked us. So yeah, I'm not fine with the concept of free shit. That is just pandering for votes.

Favorable legislation for heavy hitting lobbyists for mega corporations cost the American people more than any tax liability, that's corporate welfare at it's most fundamental, coupled with massive subsidies and tax breaks, GTFO.
