Yeah thanks Finland for blocking us and stealing our medal!
Okay.....okay, I calmed down. A bit. Sami Jauhojärvi apologized for the tackle. The German team is making a protest now and is waiting for the result.
Finland would be disqualified and Germany would be 6th then.

After all Putin is a human being too.
So between all the sarcasm and criticism on Sochi, Russia, Putin etc I would have enjoyed seeing them playing semifinals as the host.
Congratulations to Finland. They earned their victory.
Now they have to face Sweden.

Yeah, but why does this always happen to us?! Btw, the protest got denied.
Also, we lost the medal lead to Norway now. And they will get the next gold medal in biathlon now.
I guess we are the unwanted children now. Still I am pretty upset about this. What a fucked up day that is. And Claudia Pechstein..... well

Great games this year. Even with the US missing on a few key events, I've really enjoyed watching.
I look at the medal counts on the US Yahoo page and it goes by number of medals.
I look at the medal counts on the UK Yahoo page and it goes by number of Gold medals.
Hats off to all of the athletes and it really isn't about medal counts. If it were though, then the display on the UK page has my vote. Its about the gold.

Damn I wish the Latvians would have beat Canada. Really disappointed in that one. 57 shots and 55 saves for the Latvian goalie. I guess we're just going to have to pay them back double for their Vancouver Gold. Also very disappointed in the lame effort by the Russians - they looked like they didn't even want to be there.
I'm going America 4, Canada 3. Finland looked legit despite missing their country's number one center Koivu, and his brother. Rask is the game changer. I take Finland 3 to 2 over the Swedes.

The USA team looks to be clicking. I'm a little worried about Quick however....he just doesn't look as sharp as he usually does to me. Maybe it's because this is the only time in my life I have ever rooted for him? :dunno: :1orglaugh LOL....I'm sure he'll be between the pipes for us against Canada. Sweden and Finland are both just playing great hockey right now. I was more than a bit surprised to see Latvia give Canada such a challenge. Gudlevskis was awesome in goal for the Latvians! They have nothing to be ashamed of....played their asses off. No doubt that the 4 best teams are playing in the semis.
Who will it be, the USA or Canada? I like our chances....should be a great medal round. Can't wait for Friday!

If Canada's front line would start clicking, they would handily win the gold. As it stands, everything defensive is solid, but they're lack luster with pressure on the net. That's going to be the deal changer in the medal round. I hope hope hope they can repeat gold.

I have to admit my last post was homerism. I'm worried - worried about Quick mostly. Defensively I'd say we've for the most part been sound; offensively we've produced more than I would have thought we would. Something about Quick, like you said, just leaves me a bit uneasy. For the most part I always though RM was our guy for the Gold this time.
In reality what my mind tells me is Canada will win about 4-2 but my heart, as my previous post noted, we'll win 4-3 probably in OT. I think Price isn't better than Quick, so we have the advantage there. Just really hoping we kick their asses for last time.
As far as the women, I'd say the edge goes to the US, about 3-2 for the Gold.
I am crying I'm laughing so hard. Curling finally explained.
