Congratulations to our Canadian friends for winning the gold today in Vancouver. It was a fantastic game....a classic really. Storybook ending with Crosby getting the winner in OT. Both teams are awesome. No reason to hold our heads down....the USA team did us proud. THANK YOU, GUYS!!.

It's a great day for the great nation of Canada and a great day for the awesome sport of hockey.

Should be a wild night north of the border tonight! :glugglug::beer::thumbsup:

Congratulations Team Canada!!!

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Dear sir,

You've been consistent in your bile against the Canadian team. They just beat your American team.

Please, sir, at your earliest convenience, Suck my gargantuan Canadian balls. You'll know them by the gold they're wearing.

Love,
Dirk.

Yeah, they'll be the ones standing behind the Americans; the Americans that set the record for winning the most medals at one Winter Olympics. How many was it again? Oh yeah...

You won a hockey game. Congratulations. But we did something that no other country has ever done. :thefinger

That hockey game...that we won...set a record for the MOST gold medals EVER won at the winter games. So you may have the most medals...but we have the most WINNERS.

Our country has ALSO done something that no country has ever done. So you keep your abundance of bronze and silver....we'll celebrate in all of our gold. :)

Who cares about silvers and bronzes? It's the amount of gold medals that counts.

No it isn't. It's about the spirit of competition. That's what the Olympics were founded on. Nobody "wins" the Olympics. Each and every medal that is won is a singular and separate accomplishment.

Why all this trash talk on here between our two great countries? I'm happy for the Canadians tonight and not one bit ashamed of how the USA represented itself....not only in hockey, but every event. Be proud if you are a Canadian. I am most certainly extremely proud to call myself an American.

The one and only.
I'd love to see all the shit you'd be talking had America won.

We did win the most important part: the medal count. Hockey is our #4 sport at best. We could give a fuck less about it here in the States. I'd like to see a Canadian baseball team take on our MLB stars, win one out of two games, and outscore our team in total goals (well, runs in baseball, but you get the point). That would be the equivalent.

The favored team won today, big deal. Who didn't expect this to happen?

qft.

I was in my chatroom all nite while the game was on and the smack talk going on was insane. The USA peeps were convinced they'd win....if they did, they'd be talking so much shit this forum would turn brown. :D

We won, fair and square and we've earned the right to celebrate!!!

Turned out to be a lot better game then it started out like in the first. At least it went OT. Nothing like that in big-game hockey, or competitive sports for that matter.

Congrads to both teams for putting up a good game (supposedly--I honestly don't watch the Olympics as I simply don't care myself). But honestly, and I mean this in a playful sense although a bit more serious now: Let us all calm-down with the smack talk just a bit. :) Unless there is the very off kilter chance that you were a player for either team on the ice that night, I would say it's quite silly (unless it's all in good fun, now). ;)

But again, glad everyone had fun. Now let the games be officially OVER, now, dammit! *lmao* I want regular television every few days that I do watch it, to go back to regular television. I'm beyond sick of these Olympic games every few years, it is pathetic with how much Patriotic and then of course Nationalistic drival that it inspires other wise fairly sane-minded people to come out of they're mouths with. Just my :2 cents:. :)

HAHAHAHA, we did win. 37 medals to not enough medals. Hockey was just 1 of the 86 events that took place.

Its not quantity that matters, its QUALITY.

Talk all the shit you want about the medals you won, but WE won the most gold...thats all that matters. You didn't win because you had only 9 gold medals. Silver and bronze are still losses. No one goes to the Games to win bronze, or silver...they go to win Gold. And we did just that. :D

Any medal is a "quality" medal in most events. In hockey, however, there are only a handfull of teams in the tournament, not like 80 in some other events. So yeah, a medal in something like cross country is a MASSIVE deal considering all the hundreds - maybe thousands - of people in the world who try to qualify. Again, hockey is different. For most teams anything other than gold was a loss, but other events it's different. :2 cents:

Jagger is classy, and right.

I know I talked crap above, I apologise. America cleaned up at these Olympics. Amazing work by the American athletes. There was amazing work by a lot of athletes. I love the Olympics. I can't wait for the next games.

Everyone enjoy the closing ceremonies!

No. I am certain that most of the athletes would be more than happy to win a Bronze medal. Pavel Hurajt had the best race of his life and finished third. He looked quite happy.

Maybe you would be fine with a Bronze, but as someone who's competed in sports, and who's had dreams of going to the Olympics, nothing less than gold will do. Going into the games hoping for Bronze or silver is going into the games half-assed IMO. But what do I know, I'm just a silly camgirl:rolleyes:

I don't know. A medal of any kind is quite a damn achievement. Maybe after you've invested $$$ and time like these people have you would understand what it takes. It's almost a full time job between every four years for these people. I knew someone who trained for track and they have to literally treat it like a job.
