Yes!
Sweden defended the curling gold. :nanner:
Now if Slovakia wins the hockey bronze it will be a pretty good weekend.
It would be even better if Petter "Bigmouth" Northug ended up in something like 35th place in the 50k (i don´t even care if it´s a swede that wins, just as long as this norwegian scumbag doesn´t win).

Yeah. It's a fine line.

anyone have the video of it handy?

They should change the sport to roller derby on ice. How cool would that be...with checks and all. :) It's already hillarious as hell with all the contact and spills. I can't help but roll my ass off when I watch it. Most entertaining event outside of hockey, I think.

My opinion of Apollo Ohno has gone down the tubes given his performance/antics with the 500m race. I have spent 2 weeks hearing him PROCLAIM HIS LOVE FOR VANCOUVER AND CANADA and to see him turn his back on Canada  like that was an incredible example of poor sportsmanship and gross American athletic entitlement. What an asshat he is. I knew he was guilty when he skated across the finish line with that cheshire cat smirk as if he was thinking, "will I get away with that!"..No, dumbass. You won't. :nono:

I watched the event. He did a miraculous job escaping crashes in his earlier heats. I think he thought during the medal race, "Hmm, I can't pass these guys in time. I need to make something happen here and hope I can fake it..."

American Sports Talk maxim--If you're not cheating, you're not trying. :nono: Wrong shitheads. Cheaters never win in the end.

I think the crashes in the short track should be reviewed like they normally do, but there can't be a crash during a medal race. They should re-run the race. It's only fair. It's a tainted win for the Canadian. He crossed the line backwards! That's not the way to win the gold!

Jay Mariotti: U.S. Will Beat Canada

What a GREAT article. I don't think I dislike Mariotti as much as I once did. ;)

While I'm not terribly optimistic about Canada's chances, this guys has a fundamental flaw in his article: "no one expects [the US] to win."

That's wrong. They've already beat Canada once. They're undefeated. EVERYONE expects them to beat Canada. If they don't, they've failed to live up to something they've already done.

That article is terrible, I think. So much of a slanted perspective it is hard to believe it got published. Of course, that's what competition like this is all about. So bring the Nationalistic perspectives in journalism.

Go Canada. :wave2:

It was a good article from a (partisan American) journalist. The article was great. Gave me goosebumps. And I'm glad he didn't say they were the favorites, because like you, I also see the obvious: they are absolutely freaking on fire right now, hitting on all cylinders. That game against the Fins' could have been a total gore fest had they not let up and played defense the entire two thirds end of the game. But I just don't want to jinx them. :)

Damn right. Canadian gold in men's curling. :D

Looks like Canada will lead the pack in golds this year. While I generally don't care about medal count, it is mighty gratifying to see Canadians winning gold at home.

O Canada, indeed. :)

Cheryl Bernard should start taking notes. Kevin Martin doesn't know how to choke.

We still have one more gold to win. The most important one.

Great day for Canada. They really hit their stride in a ton of events today. I was embarrassed with Elfie Schlegel asking Kevin Martin after he won the gold, "So, are you gonna retire?":anonymous The Ugly American rears her head...

Hey Canadians....lay off my girl...:lovecoupl:thefinger

What's it called in english? :dunno:

Slalom.

Anyhow, 16 medals for us (4-6-6), fifth in overall medal count, ninth in the official standings. Not bad, could've been better though, since our Alpine men return with absolutely nothing. Our media is going crazy about this in a really pathetic, ridiculous way.

Last two events today, 50km cross country skiing men and the final bang. Don't know who to root for, coz it's like FAK vs RBS, ManU vs Chelski, Juve vs Milan, Real vs Barca...I don't give a fuck. Maybe there will be hate and blood, that's what I'm looking for.

We will all be free once.

Will it be a goalies' game?
Ryan Miller has done great so far ....

Well, no matter what, I'm looking forward to a great final!
