Meanwhile my pre season future bet on the two World Series teams ( Rangers vs Giants paying 25-1 ) just went from looking fairly hopeful to looking deader than dead.

Thanks a bunch, Cabrera :thefinger

Chicago Cubs versus Detroit Tigers in the World Series. Oh wait, that was 1908.

^^ The Cubs aren't going to be competitive again for a few years. They traded away their ace pitcher, starting catcher, #4 starter, and utility infielder for prospects. I was perfectly happy with the moves that the team made. They're building for the future, and they unloaded some of the older guys to free up cash and get some youth in the system.

If you look at their infield right now: Rizzo at first, Barney at 2nd, Castro at short, Stewart at 3rd, and Clevenger behind the dish. Those are all young guys. Same with the outfield: LaHair in right, Camapana in center, and Soriano in left. With the exception of Soriano, who played during the Eisenhower administration, that's a fairly young outfield. If they could trade Alfonso Soriano, I would be fucking ecstatic. I don't care if they trade him for some bubble gum. Get him the fuck out of here. I've hated that strikeout machine since they signed him.

But I digress. This team is building for the future. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years.

andronics, Lehair and Stewart are over 28. you need to let Josh Vitters take over 3rd and Brett Jackson take an outfield spot both under 25.

I just heard some news: a big deal is rumored in the midst, Dodgers and Red Sox....

Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto to the Dodgers

for

James Loney, Rubby De La Rosa, Ivan De Jesus, and Jerry Sands to the Red Sox.

That Dodger team will be so strapped down in salaries, signing both Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier to long term deals, along with having to pay Hanley Ramirez, Joe Blanton, Shane Victorino, Randy Choate, and Brandon League for the remainder of the season. Then to take on these long term Red Sox contracts too.

I hope the Giants and even the Diamondbacks come along and kick their asses.

:thefinger F*ck you Dodger Blue!! :thefinger

I don't even know what to think anymore (Sox fan :brick:). Part of me doesn't want this to happen and part of just doesn't give a shit anymore.

The older I get, the less enthusiasm I have for most sports. I don't think I need to explain why. It's pretty obvious.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Gotdammit I can't wait for this W/End White Sox @ Tigers... The central will be decided by whoever wins the remaining 7 head to head games.. it seems like they both win & lose on the same nights when there playing the same day against other teams...

The White Sox have held a 1-3 game lead in central for a while now... the head to head games will decide who wins the central.. hopefully we can sweep them in Detroit like we did the last time the Chi-Sox were in Detroit... Its gonna be tough, Chi-Sox are playing great, Sale is pretty dominant when he's on the bump... Our pitching has to be on point.. I can't wait.. its gonna be a crazy ass party if Detroit does well this coming W/E... Go Tigers, & oh yeah I know its :2offtopic but Go BLUE!! against the Crimson Tide  :uohs: I doubt Blue will win but it would be nice.. :yesyes:

Well you got your wish :) Looks like Billingsley (who was on a roll) is out for the season, and their closer Jansen is sidelined too.
It would take a collapse of epic proportions for the Giants to lose the NL West now. Even the schedule greatly favors them.

If Crawford comes back in good shape from surgery that trade could still be a good one. If not it's going to leave a HUGE crater in the new ownership's pocketbook.
