Well the Diamondbacks crushed the Giants today, 10-2. Ryan Vogelsong is not right. And hasn't been right for the last five outings. :(

But hey, the Cardinals took back the second NL wildcard birth ... they beat the Dodgers, 5-2 in twelve innings. :)

seems the ryan magic is running out to bad they Giants will get in anyway as no one else in the division will challenge them

The one and only.
Making the last road trip of the season up to Wrigley today. A couple of the guys in the group I'm going with are Reds fans so it would be nice for the Cubbies to get the win. Nothing better than waving the W flag and singing Go Cubs Go.

Gotdammit I can't wait for this W/End White Sox @ Tigers... The central will be decided by whoever wins the remaining 7 head to head games.. it seems like they both win & lose on the same nights when there playing the same day against other teams...

The White Sox have held a 1-3 game lead in central for a while now... the head to head games will decide who wins the central.. hopefully we can sweep them in Detroit like we did the last time the Chi-Sox were in Detroit... Its gonna be tough, Chi-Sox are playing great, Sale is pretty dominant when he's on the bump... Our pitching has to be on point.. I can't wait.. its gonna be a crazy ass party if Detroit does well this coming W/E... Go Tigers, & oh yeah I know its :2offtopic but Go BLUE!! against the Crimson Tide  :uohs: I doubt Blue will win but it would be nice.. :yesyes:

Yeah, we'll see what happens. My White Sox, your Tigers. Aside Yankees/Orioles 1.5 game difference, Sox/Tigers are the next closest with a current 2 game lead. Sometimes it just takes one series to change the outlook. It's good to have an interesting run, unlike the NL Central where the Reds have little competition as of late.

...and now....

I believe the bat's corking her. ;)

God another loss for the nationals against the Phillies.. We just can't beat them... I'm really hoping they miss the playoffs

Phillies are eliminated. No one in the NL East is still in except Nationals and Braves. Actually, all of the National League is eliminated except for Nationals, Braves, Reds and Giants. The American League is where things are interesting.

I'm watching my White Sox hosting the Indians. Nothing warms my heart like hearing someone's kid yelling "You suck!". A regular Disney moment right there.

I think you're forgetting there's a second wildcard team for the first time this year, and though the Cardinals are close to locking that up the Dodgers, Brewers (and I think the Phillies?) are still alive to win that.

the Cardinals almost have that second spot locked up only the dodgers are close and i think they are 3-4 back from the Cards.

Triple Crown race.

Miguel Cabrera was asked last week how badly he wants to win the Triple Crown.

"You know," he said. "I'll leave that up to God."

Yes, well, Joe Mauer should have something to do with it, too, and the Twins catcher and Tigers third baseman will have a head-to-head matchup of sorts this weekend at Target Field.

The Twins and Tigers will hook up for the 2012 season's penultimate series with much on the line. Not only does first-place Detroit enter with a one-game lead on Chicago in the American League Central through Wednesday, Sept. 27, games, but Cabrera comes in as the front-runner in the American League MVP race and with the best chance to win the first major league Triple Crown in 45 years.

Cabrera, 29, leads the AL in batting average (.326) and runs batted in (133) and trails Texas outfielder Josh Hamilton in home runs, 43-42. No player has been this close this late since Boston's Carl Yastrzemski won the Triple Crown in 1967, when he hit .326 with 121 RBIs and tied the Twins' Harmon Killebrew with a league-high 44 homers.
This time, the Twin in the way is Mauer, who enters the series batting .323, within spitting distance of Cabrera, who went 1 for 4 in a 5-4 victory over Kansas City on Thursday. And though Mauer had a rough day Wednesday against Yankees ace CC Sabathia, going 0 for 4 with three strikeouts, he's hitting .394 (28 for 71) in September.

Already unflappable, Mauer won batting titles in 2006 (.347), 2008 (.328) and 2009 (.365), so he knows the drill. He went 2 for 4 on the final day of the 2006 season to win his first, and he swears he's not scouring the boxscores to see what Cabrera is doing.
"Nothing's really changed," Mauer said. "I'm going out there trying to win every game and treating every at-bat like I would normally. It's kind of fun to see a guy like that chasing a Triple Crown. He's having a great year, but his numbers in the other years aren't far off, either.

Well, for one night, at least - Homer Bailey pitched like the guy the Reds drafted in 2004. Threw a no-hitter tonight against a flailing Pirates team, allowing only one walk.
Bailey has actually quietly had an OK season - in almost any other year, the Homer would have been a number one pitcher in the usually weak Reds' pitching staff, but this year, Johnny Cueto has been pitching like a stud quite a bit and Matt Latos has thrown quite well.

I guess I was misinformed. Be right back....Where's that pick axe?

97 losses as of tonight.

The Astros fans must feel terrific that their team has a worse record than the Cubs this year. 105 losses for them. It must feel a bit like having the lab mouse finish the puzzle before you.

the o's turn around should be less surprising to those who know Buck Showalter's track record. the last 3 teams he has managed all made the play-offs in his second year which this is for the o's

who thought that the A's would be this good? certainly not me, i figured 75-80 wins not 89+
