I've watched this club since before I could even walk and this is a low point in those 30 years. Never have we seen a club this bad, so it's very strange for us. But, the whole MN pro sports scene in in shambles ATM. The Wild led the NHL in injuries and call-ups last season; the Wolves led the league (or were right at the top) of missed games from their roster; the Queens were one of the worst teams in the NFL and the Twins led the league in injuries/missed games on their roster in the MLB last season (clearly carrying over into this season as our rookie ace Kyle Gibson and our best starter last year, Baker, both blew their arms out and had reconstructive in the last couple months). It's a total clusterfuck.

Our only view of light was the Gophers Frozen Four appearance, but they went down in flames in the National semis trying to bring national title number six home.

I feel your pain, my sport teams are in Houston

Fucking Carlos Marmol. He's the antithesis of a closer. He comes in with a three run lead and promptly walks the first two batters he faces. Then Stewart boots a ground ball to give up one run. Bruce singles to load the bases, and then Marmol walks in a fucking run to make it 3-2. Of course he gets gets pulled after that - 3 BB, 1 H, 2 ER, and no fucking outs. Really, dude? He's fucking horse shit. Dolis got out of it with a tie and we lost the game in extra innings. Go team.

Way to spoil a fucking gem from Dempster. Today's win was a gift to Cincy. Cubs game 'em the fucking game. Marmol even put a bow on it. I was so ready to talk shit to my youngest brother and step dad (both Reds fans), but I guess it'll have to wait.

Why isn't anyone talking about the AL East?

The two "powerhouses"... I.E; the two teams that have all the money -are at the bottom of the standings....

I drafted him in one of my 3 fantasy leagues, I had to drop him. I thought he did pretty well last year from what I had heard about him.

The Dodgers and Nationals surprise me more than any other team besides the Angels who look so lifeless.

I don't think you'll be surprised for too long :)
The L.A. sports talk guys are all raving about how the Dodgers are "legit". Bullshit. This team has more holes than swiss cheese, not to mention zero depth. Plus they've played a very soft schedule so far. Unless they make a major acquisition or two the Dodgers will end up right around the .500 mark.

and might I add: why in the hell did they trade Johnathon Broxton? Yes he'd struggled with some confidence problems, but how do you give up on an arm like that? ....especially being as he'd developed an effective off speed pitch.

i think there was more to trading Broxton than we know. with the new owners taking over the Dodgers expect them to make moves as soon as they are ready to. i'd say starting in June you will see something happen.

The Twins used to be one of the best defensive teams but know they are the worst.

Carlos Marmol should never bee a closer his is so inconsistent with his control but he has the mid to upper 90's fastball to bad it never goes to the same area twice. once Kerry Wood is closer to 100% i hope they make him the closer.

Get rid of guys like Punto (less than $1M annually), Hardy (has career year after leaving smacking 30 out with 80 RBI) and trade a young stud like Ramos for a shit like Capps and then sign a scrub like Nishioka for $14/3year are all signs of why the team went from one of the best to one of the worst in the span of a couple of years.

Injuries are also a huge part of the decline (Morneau, Mauer, Gibson, Baker, Kubel).

I hope the Stankees stay there. Boston has been disappointing. The Rangers in the West look better than last year.

I've never been a Yankees fan. As a general rule, I always root against them. That being said though, I've never had anything but respect for Mariano Rivera. No disrespect to Sutter, Smith, Eck, Goose, or Hoffman, but Rivera is the best closer of all-time. Period. When you heard Enter Sandman you knew the game was over. Mo has the lowest career ERA in the dead ball era and the most saves in MLB history. He's not loud or obnoxious on or off the field. He just gets the job done.

For him to potentially end his career this way is a real shame. I wish him the best, and I sincerely hope that he gets to go out on his own terms.

I've got a lot of respect for Rivera, as well.
I would actually be very surprised to see him go out like this. I know he said this was going to be his last season, but injuries like that could change a guy's mind. What a lousy way to go out.

I hope the New York team stays in the cellar.......and Boston's standing - or lack thereof - doesn't disappoint me either..:D

Marino has already announced he will return next year.

so what happened to the Twins minor leaguers? the guys they have called up do not play defense well either and i thought they taught that system wide.
also they need to get some honest to go power pitchers those contact guys are going to look terrible with that defense

thanks for that article bloodshot scott, he may actually be right.

the Astros widely picked to be the worst team this year are 13-14 and riding a 5gm winning streak. hitting .306 with RISP. will help you achieve that.

i know Tia Ling is happy since the Indians won 2 yesterday against the WhiteSox.

boy pitching has truly sucked for the most part this year.
