Lame way to end the match. Feel bad for Verdasco and Milos too. He probably didn't want to win like that.

what a fuckin' asshole! :horse:

his girl seems hot, though

Raonic won $92,000, an NHL Hockey jersey (the tournament is played in the San Jose Sharks’ home stadium) and some maple syrup

:wtf:

what's next? scotch for Andy Murray ?? :o

Verdasco jabs at Raonic, must not be happy having to play him again so soon. Not nice at all really, sour grapes? :uohs:
http://www.leaderpost.com/sports/Canada+Raonic+wins+first+title/4275789/story.html

“There (should) be another league for players like him because it’s another sport when he serves at 145 (mph) all the time and every time … it’s on the line. It’s tough to play like that,” said Verdasco, who as the match went on, became increasingly agitated with his inability to make a dent in Raonic’s service games, even as he held his own with relative ease.

Serve is part of the game FeVer  Didnt say anything like this when he beat Karlovic.

“You see him in the locker-room and he takes off his shirt, he has the body of a 12-year-old boy ... I don’t know how he doesn't break his shoulder when he serves.”

:1orglaugh

^Should amend that since the website selectively edited it to make Verdasco seem insulting when he wasnt really.
http://www.tennis.fm/tennis-news/te...asco-predicts-top-20-for-victorious-raonic-2/

“I played well when he let me on his serve because I think there must be another league for he and [Ivo] Karlovic because it’s like another sport,” Verdasco said. “When you serve every time 140 mph and every time you have chance he’s going to the line, you can’t do anything. Plus from the baseline, he’s a better player than Karlovic.”

“What surprises me is that he has [long] legs and if you see him in the locker room he has the body of a 12-year-old and has half [the size] of my shoulder and serves 140 all the time” the Spaniard said with a laugh. “Nobody knows the future, but I think he can be Top 20 very soon. But there are a lot of guys who can return serve well and they are not going to give him the Top 20 for free.”

Dont want to miss Raonic/Verdasco round 2 in Memphis though :hammer:
There are a bunch of interesting first rounders there like Roddick/Berankis and Delpo/Isner too. Some big players could go out early.

No. 7 seeds Gulbis (Marseille) and Dolgopolov (Buenos Aires) lost in 1st round

that's a bit shocking, since his opponents weren't THAT good: Petzschner and Acasuso

good news for Cilic, who avoid the Latvian, and for Almagro, who got his way clear until the SF

Andy Murray pulls out of Dubai tournament because of wrist injury

http://www.thenational.ae/sport/ten...t-of-dubai-tournament-because-of-wrist-injury

so, it's now Roger, Nole, Berdych and Youzhny the top four seeds.

that means that we will see another Federer-Djokovic final.

maybe this time Roger can avenge his defeat in Oz. But if the Djoker is still playing like he did in that match, Roger can kiss-goodbye to this tournament as well.

The article doesn't say how serious is Andy's pain. It says that he will return for Indian Wells, so, the wrist needs rest for... a week ? two ? :dunno:

Milos beats Verdasco again!
6-4 3-6 7-6

Cant believe Memphis has no streams until Thursday though, only got live scoring

3-1 against top 10 players this year, and 9-1 in tiebreaks :D

yeah, he's on fire.

everybody is talking about him:

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/columns/story?columnist=garber_greg&id=6121004

The 20-year-old Canadian trailed defending SAP Open champion Fernando Verdasco 6-2 in Sunday night's first-set tiebreaker. With four set points against him, it was a logical time to start focusing on the second set, right?

Right?

:D

Raonic fires 38 Aces to defeat Stepanek

damn! thirty-eight!! in a 3-set match!

watch out, Dr. Ivo, your records are gonna be broken soon...

now his path got easier: Kendrick in QFs. Then, Querrey/Fish in SFs is much more difficult. But a SF is great for Milo, who continue his learning in his (unavoidable?) way to the top-20

The record for most aces in a 3 set match is held by Philippoussis with 44.
Karlovic once hit 32 in 2 sets though.

Raonic should beat Kendrick if he is still fresh enough. He has been playing a lot winning San Jose and carrying on in Memphis without much of a break.
Both 3-setters with 3rd set tiebreaks here too.

Delpo and Roddick also won in straight sets. It was the first time Andy beat Tipsarevic in two sets, 6-1 7-6.
JMDP plays Michael Russell next which is favourable for him. Roddick plays Hewitt or Mannarino.

^She played on court 2 for that match. Something to do with the match being against Peer maybe?

Milos continues to win :hatsoff:
6-4 3-6 6-3 against Kendrick
Into the top 50

Still wondering if he will run out of gas soon

More to Raonic than supersized frame

http://espn.go.com/sports/tennis/blog/_/name/bodo_peter/id/6134047/more-raonic-supersize-frame

After he was bludgeoned by Raonic in Memphis the other day, an obviously frustrated Verdasco gorged on sour grapes. Referring to the court speed and the advantage it gives a big server, Verdasco said, "For me that's not a real match in tennis. I hope to play soon against him in clay court to show him what it is to play tennis, and play rallies, and run, and not only serve."

My gut reaction is, be careful what you wish for, Fernando.

what an asshole, Fer!

and yes, Raonic might beat him in clay as well... :)

I always am afraid that something like that might happen. It was only a matter of time.

Cilic defeat Youzhny for a spot in the Marseille final

good game for Marin. Looked good: quick, accurate, agressive. Maybe he's recovering his game.

for Mikahil, it's better to rest, since next week he'll be facing Roger or Nole in SFs

Lungzyn

Two straight finals for Milos :nanner:
I think he makes the top 30 if he wins the title?

I'll say Delpo will win the other SF

Querrey dropping after his loss the other day, down -16 to 34

Lungzyn

Die For Me
Take out his finals against Roger (0-7) and he would be 29-13...and maybe 2-3 more majors ;)

It might be all tiebreak sets, considering how good their serves are and the weakness of their return games. Roddick might be more likely to break since he is more consistent.

Soderling has a chance to win two tournaments in a row too. That would give him some more space between him and Murray.

Soderling won the ATP 250 of Marseille (France)

he beat Cilic in three sets

It's his 2nd title in two weeks, 3rd title of the year (leads the tour and its his career-season-high), 4th in the last 3 months. :hatsoff:

He's playing very, very good, and he now looks the stronger man behind the Big-3 (both in rankings and in form)

Marin was playing very good for 1 and a half sets, then, he just stop hustling and looked like he was injured or something.

It was excellent for him anyway, given his recent (and deep!) slumps. Hopefully this will fuel him into his way to the top again.

It was his first final in 9 months.

lechepicha

Prince of the Rotten Milk
Almagro won the ATP 250 of Buenos Aires (Argentina)

he beat local hero, Chela

It's his 9th career title, 2nd title of the year, 2nd in as many weeks, 4th in the last 7 months.

Not bad, not bad at all :hatsoff:

It was his fifth consecutive final win.

Clay is, of course his favorite surface (his 11 career finals has been on red soil) but he should improved in Indian Wells and Miami, where he has reached QF last year.

for Chela, it was his 12th career final, first in 5 months.

Roddick finally stops Milos 7-6 6-7 7-5, what a shot to take championship point!
Milos can be proud of his efforts for sure, especially the way he won the second set.
Roddick deserves the win :hatsoff: Joins Fed as the only current player to win a title 11 years in a row. 30 titles in total now.
This guy ain't too bad, you know?
