Mississippi State, who is 1-6 in the SEC, beat La Tech, who is 1st place in the WAC.
fwiw - that was a very very close game, with LTU just moments from beating MSU in the last minute of the 4th qtr (and if it weren't for some serious miscues on special teams, Tech would've likely won by 2 scores)

we'll see how LSU handles the 'spread' today against Arkansas (just as potent, if not more, than Oregon & WVU)

The issue for any of the top tier teams is stacking up against an LSU or Bama defense. Very few offenses could hang with them

all that being said, I actually believe Alabama is the best team in the country

If LSU loses today, you would likely see Arkansas(?) vs Georgia in the SEC championship.... and if Tulsa beats Houston, well, then you'd STILL have LSU & Bama at the top vying for NC contention

I think Houston could hang with or even beat UA. Doesn't anyone remember what Utah did to UA in the 2009 Sugar Bowl? Houston is right along the same ranks as Utah. Both of their regular season schedules(Utah 2009 & Houston 2011) were not of quality opponents.

As I've said before, I'm not a Bama fan, so I can certainly be objective. I've also said, with a little inside info, the Tide players had no interest in playing Utah, let alone winning. Based on this, if Bama did play Houston, and there was something worth playing for, they would beat Houston. The only question is by how much. Bama's defense is awesome. Their offense is respectable, although their quarterback is not good and their kicker is worse. This year, whenever Bama plays, the question has been how will their offense stack up against the opposing defense.

Anyhow, right now the BCS is as muddy as it's ever been, and it's all up to LSU to make things clear up. Stay tuned...

Is anyone else really hoping that Tulsa wins? They're 4 points ahead starting 2nd quarter.

Houston is undefeated...between ark bama and lsu ..both cant play for the NC sooo maybe Houston will end up playing the one left in the cold (turns my head and grins like a jack ass eating tooth picks)

2. too...many...dots...in...your...posts...makes...me...say...this:

Ok, Houston beat Tulsa by 32 on the road. Now I'll give them props and say they deserve a top 10 ranking. That's more points than Oklahoma State and Boise State beat them, and just 1 less than Oklahoma.

Now that Arkansas is outta the way, the debate becomes Oklahoma State or Alabama. Va Tech and Stanford's computer numbers are too poor to give them much of a shot. And you can't put Stanford in ahead of Alabama, cuz the whole issue is that Bama aren't conference champions, which Stanford won't be either.

Plus Stanford will have a second loss after tomorrow.

I do not see Notre Dame beating Stanford. Giving them a tough game, yes, but not winning.

1 loss, 2 losses, Stanford has no business in the BCS championship discussion. A garbage non-conference schedule and a weak conference to play against, their toughest (and only tough game) game against a team not on probation they lost badly.

I'd like to see the BCS committee make it a requirement to win your conference before you can be in their championship, and to see them take away the automatic bids to the $15 million games and make teams earn their spots instead of just letting the Big East and ACC champions in because theyre champions by default.

Before the start of the year, I would have agreed that winning your conference should be a requirement to make the BSC title game, but if Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma and Alabama beats Auburn, then Alabama really is the only one that deserves a shot at LSU. It's just another one of those years where schools seem to find ways to muddy the BCS waters. Every time this happens, the BCS makes some kind of change and the fact is, it doesn't fix a damn thing. Until there is a playoff, the BCS will be forever fucked.

its not going to matter..noway is okl st going to get a bigger push than bama after losing to Iowa st...and houston beating a 3 loss team..dont prove a lot to me ..other than the fact they at least Finally ! played a team that made a showing..im not sure anyone can beat lsu to be honest...if georgia or bama cant do it..lsu gets the shiney ball..and deserves it in my book

I wouldn't be so sure. The BCS system has been known to do some whacky things. Also, you have to remember that most of the country seems to really despise the SEC, and the last thing they want is two SEC teams in the BCS title game. In the past, the voters, and some coaches, have tried to influence the BCS rankings by voting (or not voting) in ways that could alter the BCS rankings. If you've got someone who doesn't fell Bama deserves a rematch, they could vote Okla State #1 and not vote for Bama to even be ranked. One person might not influence the outcome, but if several did this, who the hell knows what might happen. Of course, all this depends on Okla State beating the Sooners, but that's not gonna happen... Or is it...

Utah would have much rather been playing for the National Championship, and NOT UA. But they came in and beat UA's ass off the field.

Utah knew from day one they had no shot in hell at going to the National Championship game, and they knew best case scenario they could only get to a BCS Bowl. That was their goal.

This Michigan/Ohio State game is fun to watch!

I think Michigan is outperforming today. We'll see if the score reflects that at the end of the game.
